BA, PGCE
After volunteering in primary school and loving every second of it, I decided to apply for a place on the University of Nottingham’s National PGCE SCITT Course in Outstanding Primary Schools. Upon obtaining my PGCE with merit, I taught in the U.K. for three years, teaching in Year 3 and Year 4. During these years, I worked in two schools where there were high levels of deprivation. This was an invaluable experience in my formative years as a teacher because it has provided me with the skills to ensure children of all backgrounds feel secure in my classroom, and make progress.
As well as teaching in lower Key Stage 2, I was also the P.E. co-ordinator and loved organising initiatives and activities to enrich the children’s experience at school, such as inviting Team GB athletes into school to talk to and inspire the children, as well as creating a healthy eating club where the children grew their own produce and cooked healthy meals.
This is my second teaching position in China, having previously worked in Shanghai. I thoroughly enjoy living in this country immersing myself in the culture and travelling around the country. The children and staff make BSG such a fantastic place to work.
