Gabrielle Schneebeli, Pre-School Principal

In the Pre-school section, we provide a personalised teaching approach for each student, in an environment where everyone builds confidence and blossoms while developing, emotional, sporting, creative and intellectual qualities in French, English or both languages.

Each child is unique and develops at their own pace. Our mission is to stimulate their wish to grow. We encourage their success and provide a dynamic and fun environment in which they can reach their full potential at their own pace, feel proud of themselves and of their achievements, discover the joy of learning and the joy of success in school.

CDL Pre-School Programmes 755x500

In Pre-school section, we offer a choice of three programmes: Anglophone, Francophone and Bilingual, following a review of the current language level of each student.

Pre-school is organised into the following age groups:

  • PS0 (2-3 year olds): the introductory year, bilingual for all children.
  • PS1 (3-4 year olds) and PS2 (4-5 year olds): the core years, with a choice of English, French or Bilingual programmes.
  • PS3 (5-6 year olds): the preparatory year for Primary school, with a choice of English, French or Bilingual programmes and the choice of either language for reading instruction.

All sections are based on the International Early Years Curriculum.

CDL Pre-School Day

The school day begins at 8:15 and finishes at 15:10 (12:10 on Wednesday).  Parents can use the Preschool car park on campus. Students can also come to school by using our personalised bus service.

At lunchtime, all children eat in the dining room. Parents can choose for their child to take a healthy, balanced meal cooked on site by our provider, Compass or can give him/her a home-made lunchbox.

We offer a large number of extracurricular activities for Preschool children to take part in from 15:10 until 18:45. On Wednesdays, school finishes at 12:10, so extracurricular activities are available from 12:10 until 18:45.

IEYC 982

IEYC (International Early Years Curriculum)

This international programme, based on a playful yet highly structured approach to topics, enables the children to develop their thinking skills about the world around them and to acquire new knowledge. It designed to :

  • To foster exploration, curiosity and initiative
  • To promote social interaction
  • To build self-esteem and confidence in every child
  • To focus on the joy of trying rather than the product of learning
  • To develop feelings of autonomy
  • To stimulate active expression of imagination

CDL Wellbeing Preschool 755x500

Wellbeing is an integral part of the Pre-school experience.

To enable children to develop harmoniously and mobilise all their faculties, it is necessary to create an environment that will reassure them.

The teachers will first make sure to build a relationship with each of their students based on trust.  They will observe them and listen to them to better understand their personality, their possible concerns and difficulties and their areas of strength.

They will then help each child develop their full potential through their chosen objectives. Each of their efforts will be recognized and valued.

RISE Graphic 755

Our RISE values bring together our multi-national learning community to develop global citizenship.

Character building is as important to your child's growth as academics. We provide support and guidance to our students as they grow and set clear expectations for behaviour by using positive discipline.

Through daily activities, we strive to promote and uphold our values symbolized with the acronym RISE meaning Respect, Internationalism, School Spirit and Excellence.

Thus, we teach the children to respect and value others, we promote our different cultures, we develop a sense of responsibility and school spirit, and we always strive to achieve excellence by teaching the children to give their best.

Our music curriculum has been developed in collaboration with the Juilliard school of performing arts, which at Pre-school level a specially developed weekly music lessons.

PS3 students also benefit from a weekly computer-science lesson.
