It seems only a few days ago that I was welcoming students and families back to school and here we are racing towards the very last week of the half term. It has been an exceptionally busy half term with many special memories to savour.
As you read this post, our Year 12 students are starting to engage in the annual team building activity in Mui Ne. This has always proved to be a great way for the students to engage with challenges and activities outside the classroom to help foster and build good team building skills for the future. It is also nice for them to have the opportunity to take a break from their intense A Level studies.
As you are aware we now have a full time, designated University, College and Guidance Counsellor, Mr Luke Curran. As we suspected he has proven to be an invaluable asset to the school and especially for the students. Mr Curran has already increased the number of top universities visiting our school and in the last few weeks we have hosted a USA university fair and a UK university fair, with many top universities in attendance. These events proved to be hugely popular and successful. Mr Curran will continue to source the very best universities and colleges from around the world. We pride ourselves on being able to offer the very best advice to students and families from an educational viewpoint. Mr Curran will continue to offer a fantastic impartial service to students and parents at BVIS as they plan and prepare for the next most important step in their chosen studies and careers.
Finally, you will have heard me announce that our music/drama specialist, Mr Williams was heading to New York to help contribute ideas and thoughts towards the future Juilliard drama programme that we will be launching in the coming years. I have received very positive feedback from Mr Williams whilst he has been in New York about the wonderful opportunities this collaboration is going to bring to all our students.
May I remind you that school will close at the normal time on Friday 14th October for the half term break.
I wish you all a very relaxing weekend
