We have now had our IGCSE examination results validated and we have had an opportunity to compare them with results from around the world. I am delighted to inform you that our IGCSE examination scores were again significantly above UK and world averages. At IGCSE the percentage of A*-A grades was 46% compared to 20.5% worldwide. The percentage of A*-C grades was 90% compared to 65% in the UK last year. This firmly demonstrates the immense quality of education we are offering here at BVIS; these are truly world class results. As I’m sure you are aware over 30% of our A Level graduates are attending the top universities in the world including Ivy League in America and Russell group universities in the UK.
This week we have been running an American university fair and workshops for our students and for external students and families. This has proved to be a huge success and is the first of many university and college fairs and visits we will be hosting here at BVIS. On the back of our school successes, I am now receiving daily requests from some of the top colleges and universities from around the world eager to come and talk to our fabulous students and form partnerships with BVIS.
Recently I have been talking about the many benefits of being part of the NAE family of schools worldwide. As well as the Juilliard music programme, we are also now heavily involved with the global campus activities. The global campus gives our teacher and students access to 1000s of other students and teachers across the globe. There are opportunities for them to engage and collaborate on initiatives and exciting projects. This of course fits in nicely with our mission of ensuring that our students are true global citizens. The first of these big activities took place on Wednesday morning when some of our primary and secondary students came together to participate in the school choir worldwide initiative. This involved our students performing a choral piece related to the theme ‘peace’ in school on the same day as other NAE schools around the world. Our song has been recorded and will be sent to NAE central team for inclusion in this project. A massive well done to all involved you have done our school proud. You can find out more about the performance here:
I am delighted to inform you that next week we are planning to launch our new website for the school. A lot of work and effort has gone in to the structure, design and content of the new site. I am very confident that the new site will make information sharing with you as parents even better than it is now. The site will also include important links to our global campus initiatives, Juilliard music programme and much more. The site is more user friendly and will give you very quick access to key information. Following feedback from parents we have also designed an upcoming events page for quick and easy access to information about key activities in the school.
Finally, I am pleased to see so many of you have signed up for the BBGV charity run on Sunday morning. I am looking forward to meeting many of you at the start line!
I wish you all a very relaxing weekend.
