This week in the Primary School

Moon Festival celebrations

Thank you to all the parents who joined us on Wednesday morning for our annual Moon Festival celebrations. We hope that you enjoyed the dragon dance and jugglers outside on the field followed by the children’s performance in the hall.

I was very anxious the day before that the event outside would not take place due to the heavy rain we have been having this week, but the sun shone on BVIS and it was a very colourful morning with all the dragon costumes and ao dai worn by the children and staff.

I am always so proud of our children when they perform in the Main Hall which is such an enormous space, in front of a large audience. Close to 1000 people watched our Moon Festival performance on Wednesday morning which had items that were traditional, modern, cute, elegant, fun and reflective – there was something for everyone!

All of the Year 1 and Year 3 classes performed. Class IB got the performance off to a great start as they paraded with lanterns to the stage where they danced, before more dancing by classes IS and 3B. Class 3S sang a beautiful song in English and Vietnamese called “A Whole New World”, class 3V gave us a wonderful performance with fans and class 1V’s fun “fashion show” reminded us of seasonal pleasures throughout the year.

Along with the performances from Secondary students, it was a memorable celebration of the annual Moon Festival.
