It’s been a busy but interesting last week of term, with plenty going on as always.
With the end of the Have a Heart Exhibition, the total raised so far stands at an incredible 306 million VND! There are still some pledges to be received, and this week we have begun selling commemorative wristbands as well as some beautiful desk calendars featuring the students' work. Please do purchase one from school for just 100,000 VND. Thank you all so much for your generosity - there are going to be some delighted children and families when we pay for their operations.
On Wednesday, discussion around the Global Goals, as well as other important issues of the day, were discussed and argued in great depth in our first ever debate day (link to debate day article) . With every student from year 8 to 10 participating, this was a great way to develop and demonstrate research skills, teamwork and English speaking and presentation. A special congratulations to Kiet representing Sai Gon house, this year's champions! And a big thank you to Mr Routledge, Ms Penner and Mr Reid for putting such a great event together.
We’ve also had some brilliant sports performances this week. The Under 19s Table Tennis squad finished 2nd in their city championships on Monday despite playing with a team made up almost entirely of under 14s (link to table tennis article), while the Under 19 girls, newly promoted this season to Pool B, came a very creditable 3rd place. The Under 19 boys football teams finished 3rd and 4th in a heartbreaking city championship (link to U19 boys football teams).
Well done and a big thank you to everyone who was involved in the event. Once again, BVIS students did themselves proud through their enthusiasm, participation and willingness to succeed.
Our BVIS Masterchef 2017 champions were also announced, so well done to Dang Thanh Thuan Nhi and Nguyen Dang Thuc Anh (Meiji), both of 13I (link to BVIS Masterchef 2017 champions article).
But our biggest congratulations this week go to Mr Williams and Ms Tuoc, who married in Bao Loc last Saturday. We wish them every happiness in their future life together.
And so we head into our third and final term of the year, and it's an important one with IGCSE and A level exams starting, and in May our Class of 2017 graduation.
Have a restful and enjoyable break before then and see you back on 17 April.
