It is now that time of year where our Year 11,12 and 13 students start their full IGCSE and International A Level examination schedule. The students and staff have worked hard to ensure that they are fully prepared for the examinations and we are confident that this cohort of students will perform exceptionally well. We have seen some exceptional results at BVIS in recent years and this year I am sure will be no exception. Every year we have students who produce results that are best in Vietnam and on occasions best in the world, so we are extremely optimistic as always about the outcomes in August.
This week we started the transition programme for our Year 6 children into secondary school. Mr Graves and Mr Gunn met parents of this year group on Wednesday to start to outline the secondary school experience and to begin engaging with parents on this very important issue. We pride ourselves on working hard with children, parents and teachers to ensure that the transition from primary to secondary is as good as it can be. We do of course have the big advantage of having both sections of the school on the same campus. This is a very big advantage for parents at this school who have children in both primary and secondary.
As you know we invest a great deal of time and money on ensuring our teacher and leaders are at the forefront of educational innovation to ensure that all the children in our school get a world class education. This weekend, Ms Rosy and Mr Preston will be travelling to Hong Kong during the holiday period to attend a conference on bilingual education. Many of the leading organisations and experts in this field will be present and this will be an excellent opportunity for them to bring back further great educational thinking and ideas for our school.
May I take this opportunity to wish you a very relaxing weekend and hope you have a great time with your families during the holiday break on Monday and Tuesday. School will open again as normal on Wednesday 3rd May. The school will be open on Tuesday for those students who are sitting examinations.
