Mr. Paul Holyome Weekly Update - 15/09/2017

15 September 2017

Dear Parents

A big thank you to all those parents who attended the KS3 and KS4/5 meet the tutor evenings. There was an excellent attendance and I sincerely hope that you found the evening both informative and useful in gaining a better understanding of the year ahead for your child.

A final reminder please, if you have not done so already, please register for the BBGV Charity Run. You can register to collect a number, t-shirt and a hat at the primary office. Thank you to all of those families who have already registered, it promises to be another fabulous event.

As many of you know, I was recently elected on to the FOBISIA Executive Committee, this was great news for the school and for the region. My main responsibility will be to consider applications to this prestigious group of schools and determine whether they are worthy of consideration for joining the federation of schools. Over the next couple of weeks I will have the privilege of visiting two such schools, one in Singapore and one in Bangkok. For me it is also an opportunity to find out what other great schools are doing for their students and I shall use this as an opportunity to discuss outstanding education practice for the benefit of our school and community.

Finally, as you know we now have a full time University and College Guidance Counsellor, Mr Luke Curran. He has done a fantastic job already in supporting our students in researching and applying to universities, schools and colleges around the world. I am delighted to announce that over recent months Mr Curran has been furthering his own studies and has successfully completed with distinction the UCLA Certificate in College Counselling. This course provides further knowledge and technical skills to further support students with their transition from school to college or university. I know you will join me in congratulating Mr Curran and it also means for our students we have a very highly qualified counsellor who can support the students well through their transition to college or university.

I wish you all a very relaxing weekend.

Paul Holyome
