‘A Christmas Carol’: Year 5 Production Year Five produced an outstanding adaptation of Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th of November. The students had to partake in a multitude of different tasks over the course of the last fortnight. Having worked co-operatively and enthusiastically, they put on a wonderful production. 20191108 ISM Kry Y5 Production 00228DSCF0742_hero

This time Year 5  production was an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol’.

This is a story about a really mean old man named Scrooge who  hates Christmas because his business partner, Jacob Marley, died seven years earlier on Christmas Day. Scrooge is then visited by three spirits who show him his past, the present and the future. Scrooge subsequently learns not to be greedy and how his actions have affected others. He later changes his ways forever and vows to be a kind person from now on.

We were very excited when our teachers announced the dates and the story we were going to perform. Before auditioning for the different roles, we were given a few lines to learn. My role was ‘The Spirit of Christmas Past’ which I really enjoyed because it was such a fun role as it allowed me to work on lines and act. I also had the chance to perform a dance during ‘Mr Fezziwig’s Shindig Scene’. For me, it was challenging not to turn around as my classmates were performing on the big stage behind me. The songs we learnt and performed were wonderful too. Everyone joined in the singing and it sounded wonderful on our actual performances because Miss Whelan had organised an entire band to accompany us.

I really enjoyed the experience of performing and practising and can’t wait for next year’s production. I watched the Sixth Formers practising for their upcoming play in our assembly on Friday and I really can’t wait to see ‘Where the Fairytales Are’ too.
