On Friday 19th March, we celebrated Red Nose Day at The International School of Moscow in style! Rosinka was decorated from top to bottom in red, and everyone got into the comic spirit by wearing red noses, dressing in red and sharing silly 'red' jokes.
Students took part in an assembly featuring games, a red-themed quiz and, in particular, a discussion about the importance of helping those in need. Since ISM supports a local charity programme, Diema's Dream (Димина Мечта) - which aims to provide children with severe disabilities and orphaned children with a better quality of life - students had a chance to hear a story from a boy called Ethan, diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Ethan spoke about everyday challenges and how the money raised from Red Nose Day had positively impacted his life, allowing him to buy special equipment, speech aids, and support programmes to improve his muscle strength.
Throughout the week, Rosinka hosted a mini-Joke-a-Thon, with teachers sharing their favourite jokes each morning and students seizing the opportunity to write their own around the school corridors. Children also designed their own red nose faces for the occasion, and these too were displayed around the school. A fun highlight of the event was lunchtime, when students were served tomato soup, red velvet cake, and a plethora of tasty red fruits and vegetables in the canteen.
In total, we managed to raise 80,433 rubles! A huge thank you to all community members for your support - it was a fantastic event.
