Activities Week

Despite the slightly dubious and unseasonal weather at the start of Activities Week, the spirits of students and staff were certainly not dampened as they launched themselves into a packed programme of indoor and outdoor pursuits. 

Students in Secondary enjoyed a long walk along the Moscow riverbank before swinging their way around the rope and zipline course of Panda Park. Meanwhile, Upper Primary classes battled it out to become kings and queens of the ten-pin-bowling alleys and masters of the arcades at the Kuntsevo games zone. 

The sounds of cheers, laughter and a little bit of friendly arguing could be heard throughout the corridors of C Block as students took part in in karaoke, dance-offs, E-Sports competitions, escape room challenges and boardgame tournaments. Who would have known that Monopoly could be so tense!  

As the week progressed, so too did the weather, which meant that there was definitely time for an orienteering challenge for students across the Campus in the hills of Krylatskoe. Furthermore, students in the Sixth Form hosted an enchanting Alice in Wonderland-style tea party for students in Years Five and Six.  

The delightful smells of Asian cuisine wafted out of the canteen as students in Upper Primary took part in sushi making workshops. It is fair to say that eating these delicious Japanese favourites took a lot less time than it did to prepare them!  

Over at the Science Island Space Centre, daily launches of home-made rockets could be seen shooting into the skies. The STEAM project required groups to create their spacecrafts using plastic bottles and send them into the air with the aid of water and a pump. Each launch included an egg as its passenger with the aim of it returning to the ground fully intact. Sadly, a few scrambled eggs were reported back to Mission Control.     

Another highlight of the week was the Guerilla film-making project. Students and staff took on the roles of directors and actors to make short films that were then showcased to audiences on the Upper Campus. 

As well as having lots of fun, there was also a serious note to Activities Week as we held our first live Model United Nations Day. More than fifty students filled the makeshift MUN Assembly to represent different countries and push through deals, policies and pledges for their citizens.   

Activities Week was a huge success thank to the efforts and participation of everyone involved. The only thing we were left wondering was how we managed to find enough hours in the day to do everything!
