Dear Parents,
Wishing a very Happy Diwali to all families celebrating today. The festival of lights brings such joy and colour to our community, and it was wonderful to see the children in ’Singing Assembly’ learning about this special festival and how it is celebrated.
This week, we are pleased to welcome a school inspection team from the Association of British Schools Overseas (BSO). This independent team of inspectors will be looking closely at key areas of our school, including curriculum, teaching, learning, and assessment. They will be visiting classrooms, talking with students, teachers and school leaders, and gathering feedback from both parents and students. They will be joining us at our Sai Kung Campus on Wednesday morning, so if you are dropping off your child, please feel free to say hello to the inspectors should you see them.
On Wednesday morning, we will be launching our Box of Hope Initiative during assembly. Our Secondary students will lead and introduce the project to our younger learners, modelling compassion and community action. This year, we’ve been asked to focus on donations for babies aged 0–1 and 1–2 years old. We hope many families will be able to contribute - every box makes a meaningful difference. Information will be sent home with your child on Wednesday.
Literacy Workshop - A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who joined us for the recent Literacy Workshop. It was a pleasure to explore how we support children’s literacy development here at NAIS Sai Kung, and we hope you found the session both insightful and useful.
We would love to hear your thoughts on our first two parent workshops, along with any recommendations for future sessions. If you have a few minutes to spare, please share your feedback via the form HERE — your input is incredibly valuable and helps us continue to refine and improve our parent engagement sessions.
Wild Explorers - Just before the break, our Year 1 students had their first off-site Wild Explorers session at Lion’s Nature Park. The children built shelters for a fairy, thinking creatively about what she might need to stay dry, eat, and drink. They also completed a Boundary Walk to get familiar with their surroundings and made heartfelt Promises to keep themselves and nature safe. What an inspiring afternoon! Over the course of the year, all year groups will take part in Wild Explorers, both onsite and offsite — we can’t wait to connect with nature, each other, and learn more about ourselves.
