Early Years Campus Weekly Update 27 Oct 2025

Dear Parents,

Last week was a busy and engaging time across our campus, with children participating in Diwali celebrations, launching our Box of Hope initiative, and welcoming inspectors into the school.

Celebrating Diwali

On Monday, children across the campus began exploring the Diwali celebration. We learned about the festival’s traditions and how it is celebrated by families around the world.

Throughout the week, children took part in a variety of activities including designing Rangoli patterns, crafting diyas, creating Henna designs, learning Diwali dances in music, and role-playing the story of Rama and Sita. It was fascinating to see the children immerse themselves in this vibrant cultural celebration.

Box of Hope Launch

We also launched our Box of Hope initiative last week. A big thank you to two of our Secondary students who introduced the project during Assembly. They explained how the boxes help children in need and led a game to help our younger learners understand the difference between 'needs' and 'wants'.

We were impressed by how thoughtfully the children responded and how clearly, they understood these important concepts.

We are pleased to share that our first boxes have started arriving at school this morning. Thank you to all families who have already contributed. Each box is a meaningful act of kindness and a reminder that small actions can make a big difference. We look forward to seeing more boxes come in over the coming weeks.

Chinese Learning – Weather and Seasons

Prompted by our recent ‘windy weather’, the children have been learning about weather and the current season, Autumn (秋天 qiū tiān) in their Chinese lessons. They have begun recognising key characters such as:

  • Sun (太阳 tài yáng)
  • Cloud (云 yún)
  • Wind (风 fēng)
  • Rain (雨 yǔ)

Through stories, games, and art, the children practised stroke order and created puzzle characters using torn paper. Their curiosity led us outdoors for our first Chinese sketching session, where we observed the signs of autumn and captured them through drawing and writing and creating our own kites, which we flew in the wind.

Looking Ahead – Halloween Fun

Our children’s interests have now turned to Halloween! This week, we will be exploring Halloween themed stories, rhymes, and magical potions, all leading up to our Halloween Party on Friday afternoon.
