Dear Parents,

Over the weekend, we hosted our first open day of the school year for families that are seeking out the best fit school for their children in Hong Kong.

With over 100 families in attendance, I asked one simple question before families joined tours around school: What do you look for in a top international school? Their responses were collated into a word cloud that presented the highest frequency words as the largest in the image below. The results, as we can all bear witness, are clearly recognisable within our school community.

As a Head Teacher, these events are more than just a showcase; they are a celebration of who we are, what we stand for, and the vibrant learning environment we’ve built together.

Open Days offer a unique opportunity for families to experience our ethos firsthand, meet our dedicated staff, and meet our student leaders in school. It’s a chance for us to share our vision, highlight our strengths, and answer questions with openness and warmth. For new families, this transparency builds trust and helps them feel confident and it is the start of the school-parent relationship.

Seeing our school through the eyes of new parents reminds us of what makes our setting special: the engaging learning, the pursuit of academic excellence, the inclusive culture, and the strong relationships that underpin everything we do.

Finally, it was a reminder that every child’s journey begins with a family choosing a school that feels right. We are proud to be that choice for so many, and we remain committed to ensuring every family feels welcomed, valued, and inspired.

I do hope that families have a great half term break when it arrives. I am sure that there may be stories of adventures, travels and explorations to share upon our return.

Lastly, I look forward to seeing Year 2 families on Wednesday 22nd October for our spectacular Year 2 Showcase!
