Dear Parents,
Last week was an exciting one with lots of current and prospective families on campus! On Wednesday, it was a pleasure to welcome our Y12/13 parents to discuss Key Stage 5, and we look forward to hosting another morning soon. The Year 7 Parents’ Evening was a huge success, and it was lovely to see so many of our families receiving important feedback from our teaching staff. Saturday saw our campus come to life for Open Day, welcoming over 200 families to campus, where our student representatives provided fantastic support throughout the day.

This week, we are proud to mark Anti-Bullying Week, with students arriving at school wearing odd socks to signify the start of this important initiative. Activities will continue during Form time to raise awareness, reinforcing our school values of ‘Be Kind’ and ‘Respect Everyone’.

On Tuesday, we will observe Remembrance Day with a live poetry reading and the sounding of the Last Post, followed by a two-minute silence to honour those who have served.
We are also preparing for World Children’s Day on November 20th, encouraging all students to come to school dressed in blue. We also look forward to welcoming our Y10 and Y12 families for Parents’ Evening on Wednesday.
I wish you all a wonderful week ahead!

Upcoming: World Children’s Day 20th November – Mrs. Procter
On Thursday 20th November, we will celebrate World Children’s Day. Our Secondary students will be leading a range of activities across three campuses, engaging our students in UNICEFs Rights of the Child.
We will also have a ‘Wear Blue Day’ on Thursday 20th November to acknowledge the day.

Box of Hope –IB CAS Students
The Box of Hope collection has officially started at NAIS Kwun Tong, and students have been amazing at putting gifts together! For those who are unfamiliar, the Box of Hope is an organisation that works with schools across the world to donate gifts to children living in challenging circumstances and directly correlates with our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Goal 1 No Poverty and Goal 5 Gender Equality.
Students can participate by firstly collecting an empty shoe box. Within the box, students can begin adding in their gifts in accordance with the Box of Hope checklist that is provided in the form of an A5 label. After filling the box with gifts, students can decorate the box and then complete the Box of Hope checklist and stick it onto the top of the box. Students can then bring their box to school and drop it off outside the auditorium on the second floor (a picture is attached below). Please make sure all items are in relatively new condition and does not divert from the checklist greatly. (Please visit https://www.boxofhope.org/en/how-to-make-a-box-of-hope/ for more details.)
By now, all students should have received a checklist from their tutors during tutor time this past week. If a student has lost their checklist or want to make more boxes, please feel free to pick a checklist up from outside the auditorium next to the donation/collection area! Final submissions for the boxes will be Friday 14th November.
We invite all students and parents to join in! Your participation will be greatly appreciated and will bring smiles to children across the world. Thank you to everyone for your support, and we cannot wait to see all your amazing boxes!

Books and Buns – CAS Project Group – Venus, Dylan, Marcus, Ivan and Leo
Dear Parents,
We’re delighted to share details of our upcoming event, Books and Buns!, taking place on Thursday, 5th December. This fun initiative combines a Christmas-themed baking competition with a book sale, all in support of two wonderful causes, Feeding Hong Kong and Bring Me a Book Hong Kong.
Students are invited to take part in the school-wide Bake Off, judged on creativity, taste, and presentation, with separate categories for KS3 and KS4 & KS5. After judging, the cakes will be sold to the rest of the school, with all proceeds donated to charity.
We’d love your help in encouraging your children to get involved by:

Battle of the Bands Upcoming Heats – Mr. Sayce
COMING THIS WEEK!!!

As one display of outstanding musicianship finishes, another begins. This week is Battle of the Bands where students can form their own bands and compete against their peers for the crown of being the best band at NAIS HK.
The heats for this year’s event will take place on Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th and Friday 14th November during lunchtimes. The exciting final will be held on Wednesday 19th after school on the rooftop.
I encourage all parents to inspire their children to sign up and showcase their talents in competition with their fellow students! This is a fantastic opportunity for bands of all styles from any year group to join in the fun and excitement!
MUN – Mr. Kajkowski
Over the past weekend, 10 NAIS HK students attended the French International School’s MUN conference (FISMUN), and it is safe to say that they had a fantastic and fruitful time. From debating human rights in Latin America to the Kashmir question, many opinions were strongly expressed, and many resolutions to furthering world peace were agreed upon. Not only did all our delegates succeed in their own way, they also enhanced and refined their persuasion, negotiation, public speaking and diplomatic skills, while having much fun along the way!
Furthermore, 4 of our delegates received awards (of which only 3 are given for each committee): Kabir C, Angela D, Sarah I, and Winston W were all recognised for their diligent research, considered negotiation, and fiercely persuasive debating abilities.
The MUN Team are delighted to share there are a further 3 conferences coming up between January and March, open to all year groups and experience levels, and so we look forward to seeing some KS3 pupils embarking on their MUN journey and learning how to put the world to rights in both a strategic and fun way!
Sports Updates – Alex Wiltshire

U14 Girls Football Finals
The evening of Wednesday 5th November is celebrated as Bonfire Night in the UK. Knowing this, fireworks were expected at the U14 Girls Football Finals! The semi-final v Kellett was a tense affair in the first half with the score 0-0 at half time despite our team dominating and having several near misses and hitting the Kellett post. The team turned their dominance into a 4-0 victory during the second half with two goals from Helvetia, a rocket of a shot from Kaia and a composed finish by Clarice. The Gold medal match beckoned.
CAIS were our opponents who edged a win against the team in the league by 1 goal. A battling display saw the team trail 2-1 at half time in what was an equal contest - only to be losing to a goal that had players wanting VAR involvement! The team continued to rally in the second half, play better football, and dominate in terms of territory. The CAIS keeper was busiest, and Lou Lou hit the post with 8 minutes remaining. They huffed, they puffed but couldn’t blow the house down, and CAIS hung on to win 2-1.
The silver medal was the prize this year and a fine achievement for the team. Well done and thank you to all players that contributed across the whole season.

Looking Ahead
Best regards,
Fiona Thorndike
