Secondary Campus Weekly Update 17 Nov 2025

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled that Enrichment Week is just around the corner next week! This is always one of the most exciting times in our school calendar, offering students the chance to explore new experiences, develop skills, and create lasting memories.

As part of encouraging independence, we kindly ask that students take responsibility for packing their own belongings. This is a great opportunity for them to practice organisation and ownership of their learning journey.

We hope every student enjoys the wonderful activities planned and embraces the spirit of adventure.

We are also delighted to share some fantastic news: our school has been awarded the Ritzy Hong Kong Education Award for Secondary School of the Year! This incredible achievement is thanks to the dedication of our staff, students, and parents—and to the 38,000 people who voted to make this possible. Congratulations to our entire school community for this well-deserved recognition!

Thank you for being part of this journey—we can’t wait to see the smiles and stories that come from next week!

Celebrating our Students:

We are delighted to celebrate Lucas C (Year 10) for his achievements in Football. Lucas recently travelled to Bahrain to represent Hong Kong in the Hong Kong National Team U15s squad. He described the week as a fantastic experience and feels proud to have been able to represent Hong Kong. Well done, Lucas!

Winter Uniform
Monday 1st December marks the start of our winter uniform being officially worn in school. Students should arrive at school wearing a tie, jumper/cardigan, and a blazer during the cooler months as part of their official school uniform.

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 17 Nov 2025 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 17 Nov 2025

However, as announced by the Observatory, a cold snap is expected this week. Therefore, we encourage students to wear their winter uniform from tomorrow should they wish.

A polite reminder that school hoodies are only to be worn for PE and not as part of the winter uniform, and that all non-school hoodies should not be worn to school.

Thank you for your support.

Remembrance Reflection – Miss. O’Malley

On the 11th of November 1918, the world saw the end of its first global war in which over 8 million servicemen and women lost their lives. The school community gathered this Tuesday to reflect on the sacrifices made during this and other conflicts throughout our history. A poem of remembrance was read, followed by a two-minute silence of commemoration. Aligning with tradition, Mr Sayce framed these moments with a beautiful rendition of the Last Post, a piece of music originally played in the British army to signal that camp was secure for soldiers to rest at the end of the working day. May all those lost to conflict, both past and present, find their rest in peace today.

World Children’s Day – Thursday 20th November

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 17 Nov 2025 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 17 Nov 2025

We encourage all our students to celebrate this important day on Thursday by wearing blue clothing. A donation of $10 for those participating will be gratefully collected and donated to UNICEF. We will also be hosting a range of charity stalls over the course of the day, with all proceeds also going to UNICEF.

Box of Hope – CAS Students

Hello everyone!

We are delighted to announce that the Box of Hope donation drive this year was an amazing success! Organised by Year 12 students Claire C, Isabella C G, Penelope H, Maja K, Sahana V, and Ivanka W, the outcome could not have been more fruitful from all our three campuses, including over 90 boxes from the Kwun Tong campus and an overwhelming 307 boxes from the Lam Tin campus!

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 17 Nov 2025 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 17 Nov 2025

Thank you very much to everyone who participated and donated something; whether it was a box or simply a purchased treat from the bake sale, every little bit counted towards the goal of giving the underprivileged children in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia the chance to live a better life. The efforts of all the staff who helped organise this are truly appreciated, including Ms. Smit, Ms. Yu, Ms. Procter, Ms. Man from the Lam Tin campus, and Ms. Hanson and Ms. Yuen from the Sai Kung campus, as well as of course the students and parents as well.

Once again, thank you, NAIS HK, for supporting this project!

World Scholar’s Cup – Siena C

After 111 regional qualifying rounds and 9 global semi-final rounds, the finals - the Tournament of Champions - took place at the Yale University from the 7th to the 12th of November. I was lucky enough to have participated in the ToC alongside 1,200 scholars from 67 countries. It was a week full of academic challenges, debating, creative writing and having fun! A few of my achievements include placing in the top 4% in creative writing, the top 6% in debating, and top 9% in overall ranking. Despite all the challenges faced in the past 8 months since the HK regional round, WSC has not, for a single second, failed to live up to its aim - to celebrate the joy of learning. The World Scholar’s Cup has certainly been one of the highlights of my entire year, and I cannot wait to join the 2026 season with NAIS HK Scholars!

House Update – Mrs. Procter

For our House Challenge today, we saw four mighty Houses work collaboratively to create four fantastic pieces of art to commemorate Remembrance Day 2025. Students drew, collaged, and added poems to their pieces. Our judges, Mr. Grant, Mr. Sherwood and Mrs. Watt were very impressed with the creativity of all pieces made today. However, there can only be one winner. The judges commented on the use of collage, thoughtful composition and combination of poems and detailed drawing. The results are as followed:

  • 1st: Sandringham
  • 2nd: Windsor
  • 3rd: Balmoral
  • 4th: Caernarfon

Congratulations Sandringham!

A special shout out to the year 11 art students who helped to start the compositions today and Jacob in 9F who captured the event beautifully with his photography.

U16 Boys Volleyball Finals
What an incredible effort from our U16 boys! The team started strong, defeating MCHK in the first match with a 2–0 win, securing second place overall. A huge shout-out to Toby F, who delivered an outstanding performance with at least 8 points from his serves—a fantastic contribution to the team’s success!

In the second match, the boys faced a tough opponent in Island School. Despite the loss, they showed amazing resilience, teamwork, and fighting spirit right to the final point. Every player gave their best, and their energy on the court was inspiring.

We’re so proud of their determination and growth—this is just the beginning! “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill

Let’s keep building on this momentum for the next challenge. Go NAIS!

Basketball Season has started!!

U12 Girls
The U12 girls’ basketball team had a fantastic start to their season with an impressive victory against South Island School on Tuesday! The girls showcased their hard work and determination, securing a win with a final score of 21-8.

From the tip-off, the team demonstrated excellent teamwork, strategic play, and strong communication on the court. The defense was particularly impressive, shutting down South Island's scoring opportunities and allowing minimal points. Offensively, the girls moved the ball swiftly, finding open teammates and creating scoring chances.

Maisy was named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance. She not only contributed to the scoreboard but also displayed great leadership qualities and encouraged her teammates throughout the game. Her hustle and skill were pivotal in guiding the team to this impressive victory.

Congratulations to the U12 girls on their first win of the season! With this strong start, we look forward to seeing their continued growth and success in the upcoming matches.

Keep up the great work, team! Go Knights!

U14 Girls
The U14 girls' basketball team faced a challenging match against Victoria Shanghai School on Tuesday, putting forth a valiant effort despite the final score of 46-16.

The girls demonstrated resilience and teamwork throughout the game, showing great determination on both ends of the court. The team’s defense was commendable, with several key steals and blocks that highlighted their hard work in practice. Offensively, they developed some strong plays, moving the ball effectively, and creating scoring opportunities.

While the outcome was not what they had hoped for, there were numerous positive moments to build upon. Players displayed improvement in communication and spacing, laying a solid foundation for future games.

As they look ahead, the team will focus on refining their strategies and enhancing their offensive cohesion in preparation for their next match. The experience gained from this game will undoubtedly prove beneficial as they continue to develop their skills.

We are proud of the effort and dedication shown by the U14 girls. Keep pushing forward, team! We look forward to seeing your growth and determination in the next match.

Go Knights!

U14 Boys
In a challenging first U14 Boys Basketball match, the Knights faced Island School with a depleted roster due to injuries and illness, resulting in a tough 50-24 loss. Island School pressed hard and contained the Knights for most of the first period. However, a change in tactics helped the Knights execute some effective fast breaks, allowing them to win the second quarter 8-6. Despite this, they trailed 25-16 at halftime. Island School proved stronger in all areas, and key confidence-boosting shots failed to drop for the Knights. MVP honours went to Catus for his relentless efforts throughout the game.

U12 Boys
In a dominant U12 Boys basketball match, the Knights triumphed over CAIS 51-21 at Lam Tin. They showcased a well-controlled fast break, allowing them to dominate the first half with strong layups and effective steal conversions in the second. Although rotations in the second half enabled CAIS to close the gap, the Knights powered through in the fourth quarter to decisively outplay their opponents. Key improvement areas for the next game include attempting more three-pointers, as players were in good positions but lacked the confidence to execute. MVP honours went to Oscar for his exceptional performance.

U16 Boys
The U16 boys' basketball squad delivered a hard-fought performance against CAIS on Thursday, showcasing determination and skill throughout the match. The contest was marked by constantly changing scores, with both teams displaying exceptional effort.

Jaxton stood out with his remarkable shooting, sinking several impressive three-pointers that kept NAIS HK within striking distance. His sharp shooting was complemented by the strong leadership of Ho Chuen, who guided the team effectively both on and off the ball.

Defensively, Gabriel and Mir were fantastic, providing solid protection at the basket and making it difficult for CAIS to find easy scoring opportunities. Their defensive efforts were crucial in maintaining pressure on the opposing players.

Despite the final score of 43-40 in favor of CAIS, this result does not accurately reflect the hard work and commitment demonstrated by every member of the squad. Each player contributed to a competitive atmosphere, and their performances continue to highlight the team spirit and resilience that defines NAIS HK basketball.

Overall, it was an exciting match filled with great moments and potential for future improvement. We look forward to seeing the squad build on this performance in upcoming games. Go Knights!

U20 Boys
The U20 basketball team travelled to German Swiss International School on Thursday for the opening game of their season. Knowing our opponents went undefeated last season meant a formidable challenge was anticipated. A 46-16 scoreline in the record books doesn’t tell the story of a team that worked hard to try and overcome a press defence that was applied very well by the opposition. Plenty to work on in training for the team but continued effort will see them be rewarded.

U16 Boys Football
5-0 to the Knights.

With a squad brimming with talent, the boys flew out the blocks, and it took 26 seconds to take the lead with Ronan feeding Julian, and it was 1-0. Julian then turned provider setting up Cason who bent a shot into the top corner. Those 2 combined again, this time Cason splitting the defense for Julian to run in and dink over the keeper. 3-0 after 10 minutes, that was the score at half time, and our wingers had done the damage. SIS started to establish some rhythm and their number 28 started to cause problems. Pierce had to be at his best to hold him up, and Owen threw his body on the line several times to block shots and help Ollie sustain the clean sheet. As the game wound down, William found Captain Andrey in space, and he whipped a shot into the top bins. Julian proved a menace all game and with 2 minutes remaining a little jink, twist and turn bought him space to smash home the 5th and give him his hat trick. SIS played well, but the Knights were clinical when it mattered to set out their stall for the season.
