World Children’s Day – November 20th 2025
Dear Parents,
We celebrated World Children’s Day on November 20th marking a global occasion dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights and well-being of children everywhere. Established by the United Nations, the day marks two historic milestones: the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989).
I have often talked in this bulletin about ‘Every kid needs a champion | Rita Pierson’.The idea that every child needs a champion who will not give up on them. On this World Children’s Day, we united to protect their rights and empower their voices because the way we care for the youngest today will define the world of tomorrow.
In school, we started the week by introducing the concept of children’s rights. Children took part in the ‘Hope Stickers’ Challenge, which has been organised by secondary students to spread messages of hope. At the same time, each class completed rights-based learning during Global Citizenship lessons.
All of the events across were orchestrated by Ms. Man, Global Citizenship Coordinator. Alongside our student leaders, there were a series of ‘Take Over’ events, which included activities such as story time, dance parties, card designing, and shadow puppet making. House Captains also interviewed me to gain my perspective on children’s rights, providing a fantastic leadership opportunity for students.
On World Children’s Day, students were invited to wear blue non-school uniform to show support for UNICEF, with all donations going directly to UNICEF. By participating, students learned about equality, respect, and the importance of their voices in shaping a better world. A short video of our Lam Tin campus highlights how we made the week meaningful and engaging for our students.
Today, I asked our Year 6 Student Leaders to contribute to the bulletin and here are their key takeaways:
