Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of the academic year, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our Year 13 students. They are almost there and will complete their IB exams this week. Throughout this challenging period, they have demonstrated remarkable grit, determination, and resilience. We wish both our Year 13 students and their families a restful and joyful weekend as you celebrate the completion of this important chapter.
We are also very much looking forward to their formal graduation ceremony on 30th May, where we will come together with families to mark this significant milestone. Meanwhile, our Year 11 students continue to work hard through their exams. We encourage you to keep supporting and motivating them as they push forward. Your encouragement makes all the difference!
We are excited to share that International Week is shaping up beautifully this year. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who have already signed up to participate-your support truly makes this event one of the highlights of the academic year for our students.
As we continue to prepare, we are still looking for parent representatives for Taiwan and the USA to help us showcase their rich cultures and traditions. If you would like to get involved, please reach out to us at your earliest convenience. Thank you once again for your enthusiasm and support. Together, we’re creating an unforgettable experience for our students!
Summer Showcase – Mr. Cross
We are excited to welcome our KS3 parents onto campus on Thursday 29th May. Our event will provide our students in Year 7, 8 and 9 an opportunity to showcase some of the knowledge and skills they have acquired so far in school this year, to you as parents. Please sign up using the link below if you have not done so already. A reminder that KS3 students should only attend school during their two-hour session and should be accompanied by their parent(s). There will be no lunch service on this day, but Chartwells will be open as usual for coffee and pastries.

Year 10 & 12 Assessments
Students in Year 10 & 12 will attend school for their scheduled assessments which are due to take place for these year groups next week. Assessments will take place throughout the week, including Thursday 29th May (the KS3 showcase event will also be taking place this day). Our students are currently preparing for these tests in lessons and should welcome them as part of their learning journey towards their IGCSE & IB Diploma examinations next year.
Year 12 Recital Evening – Ms. Yu
This coming Wednesday 21st May, we will be hosting a smaller, more intimate recital evening on the 5th floor Juilliard Space. This gives the opportunity for our Year 12 Music students to perform to a live audience, a key component of the IB Diploma Music course. The evening will include renditions of Handel, Mozart and Saint-Saëns amongst other non-classical genres too! If you would like to come along, the doors will open at 4.20 and performances will run from 4.30-6.00pm.
International Day – Mrs. Rankin
This year’s International Day is shaping up to be a fantastic event! A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who have agreed to support the celebrations by hosting/supporting a table on Friday 13th June. We are continuing to seek support from our parent community, therefore if you would like to support this school event, supported by the PTA, please register your interest here.

Match Reports
U12 Boys Football
Carmel School was the visiting team on Monday when the U12 boys football team played their latest league match. Recent results for both teams suggested a competitive game that would serve as a good indicator of their standing in the league. A very positive start saw the opposition goalkeeper tested several times in the first 15mins with him producing several impressive saves. Finally, the dominance of our knights saw them break the deadlock and follow up with a second to secure a 2-0 lead at half time. Carmel started the second half in impressive fashion and scored from a cool and composed finish by their striker. This spurred the boys into action and a further two goals, including the first of the season for Kris from a distance saw the team control the game to the end and win 4-1. The score could’ve been by a larger margin not for the impressive display from the opposing keeper and leaves the team in a good position in their pursuit of the finals at the end of May.
U14 Netball
On Tuesday 13th May, saw the U14 Netball squad head to the Wong Chuk Hang Netball courts to play CDNIS. It was the first match for teammate Olivia, and she was very excited to play. The first quarter started out slowly with both teams figuring out each other's tactics and opponents, but we finished the quarter 4-0 up. We continued to score in the second quarter finishing at half time 8-1 in the lead. After a few team tactic changes we went into the third quarter with the target of finishing the game with a larger goal difference to increase our chances of going to the finals. This quickened the pace of the game for our team, causing CDNIS to make a few errors leaving us to gain possession and increase our chances of scoring. By the end of the match, we finished 22-2. Go Knights!

RE: Year 9 visit of Picasso for Asia- a conversation (from the collections of Musée national Picasso-Paris) + French or Spanish restaurant
Dear Parents/carers,
In 2025, French May Arts Festival celebrates 32 years at the heart of Hong Kong’s cultural scene, stimulating creation, collaboration and artistic exchange that pulsates through communities, genres, borders and beyond.
As such, The MFL Department has organised two visits in one day: a cultural visit of Picasso for Asia- a conversation at the M+ Museum in West Kowloon followed by a trip to either a French or Spanish restaurant, to sample regional cuisines.
The visit will take place on Thursday 5th June during the school day.
Throughout this visit, students will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of French and Spanish cultures, and art beyond the classroom. They will also be asked to reflect on the day and write a diary entry in French or Spanish using a variety of tenses, opinions, as well as a wide range of vocabulary. This trip will be beneficial to all students, particularly those who have opted to study French or Spanish at IGCSE. All students will be going to the museum together.
Students who study French will then go to the French restaurant; students who study Spanish will then go to the Spanish restaurant and students who study both will have a choice of restaurant; we will do our best to give dual linguists their first choice although this is not guaranteed. Both restaurants will be serving our group a bespoke three-course meal.
Venues and times
We will visit two locations:
- M+ Museum, 38 Museum Drive, West Kowloon
- La Crêperie (French restaurant), 1/F, Kui Chi Mansion, 100 Queen's Rd E, Wan Chai or
- Plaza Mayor (Spanish restaurant), 4 Sun Street, in Wan Chai.
Students will come to Kwun Tong in the morning, go to registration and meet their MFL teacher at 08:50 in the cafeteria; we will travel to the above locations together. We expect to leave the restaurant at 15:00 and will return to Kwun Tong for approximately 15:50, unless you give your child permission to make their own way home from Wan Chai (see link to Microsoft Form).
What to wear and bring
All students must bring their student ID card, wear their full school uniform, or their PE kit, and they should have an umbrella. They should bring a school bag, their French/Spanish exercise book, a pen, a fully charged mobile phone and a good snack as we will be eating lunch at 14:00. If your child is asthmatic or allergic to certain pollutants, we would be grateful if you could remind them to bring all necessary medicines such as inhalers, antihistamines, etc...
The total cost for this trip will be 370 HKD.
In addition to this, students should make sure they have got sufficient money on their Octopus cards to pay for their travel from school to the venues and back; we will be using the MTR for transport. Please note that activities may be suspended in case of heavy rain/typhoon.
How to secure a place for your child?
To secure your child's place and avoid disappointment, please complete the Microsoft Form by clicking on this link and pay the full amount of 370 HKD (to Mrs. Jenkins in 307) no later than Wednesday 21st May. Only then will your child's place be confirmed.
Please note that spaces are limited so students will be selected on a first come first served basis. A confirmation email will be sent out once the list has been finalised.
If you have any questions regarding this visit, please feel free to contact Mrs. Jenkins at aurora.jenkins@nais.hk or Mr. Kajkowski at nicholas.kajkowski@nais.hk.
Yours sincerely,
MFL Department
