Dear Parents,
Last week was certainly an unusual one for us all, with Typhoon Ragasa disrupting our school days. I hope you and your families were safe and not too affected by the storm and we look forward to more settled weather ahead.
Despite the disruption, our Nursery children made the most of Friday by creating their very own
“Typhoon Clean-Up” in the Nursery Garden. They worked together to tidy up and had so much fun in the process — well done, Nursery! The garden looks fantastic, and your teamwork was wonderful to see.
Parent Partnership – Supporting our Children’s Development A big thank you to all the parents who were able to attend our recent workshop,
Helping Children Thrive: Supporting Personal, Social and Emotional Growth. It was fantastic to see so many of you there. I hope you found the session both useful and insightful—I know I certainly did.
Literacy Development Looking ahead, next week we turn our attention to
Literacy. On
Friday, 10th October (8:45–9:45 am), we will host a parent workshop focusing on how we support children’s Literacy development. The session will include practical insights into how we teach
phonics, writing, comprehension, and speaking and listening skills. Following the workshop, parents are warmly invited to join their child in the classroom for a
Celebration of Learning (9:45–10:30 am)—a wonderful opportunity to see
Literacy in Action.Speech and Language Screenings Continuing with this theme,
Henriette Olesen, who is a speech and language specialist,
with over 20 years of experience working with preschool and school-aged children will be offering optional
Speech and Language screenings on campus for any parents who have concerns about their child’s speech and language development. A separate email has been sent today with further details and sign-up information.
Mid-Autumn Festival – Mooncake Donations to the Sai Kung Community Centre This morning, our Year 1 students enjoyed a very special visit to the
Sai Kung Community Centre, where they delivered our
Mooncake Donations to elderly residents of Sai Kung. The donations were warmly received, and the children delighted everyone with their songs. It was a truly heartwarming experience and a wonderful way to support our local community.

Finally, we are looking forward to the
Year 1 Assembly next week, where the children will share their learning about the
Mid-Autumn Festival with the rest of the Nursery and Reception classes.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to seeing many of you at next week’s workshop and celebration.
Yours sincerely,
Ruth Hanson
