Dear Parents,
January marked the start of Health Month, a whole school initiative designed to celebrate and promote healthy, active living across our community by Ms. Ni Si Dixon, who advocates for deeper commitments to Wellbeing for, and by, us all. Throughout the month, children will explore four interconnected pillars of wellbeing: Physical Activity, Mental & Emotional Health, Nutrition, and Sleep. Each week focuses on one of these themes through engaging experiences, family partnerships, and meaningful reflection.
We begin with Physical Activity Week, where students learn about the benefits of movement for both body and mind. Daily morning activities include yoga, obstacle courses and dance which will help students experience different forms of movement.
During Mental and Emotional Health Week, students will reflect on how thoughts, feelings, and relationships shape their well being. This week includes a session to encourage quality family time, a school wide Gratitude Journal project, and a Random Acts of Kindness wall that celebrates positive choices across campus.
Nutrition Week, when it arrives, will help students make informed food choices. Families are invited to cook together, while the school introduces lunch time visual guides based on the UK Eatwell model. We will also share hydration charts and mindful eating prompts will encourage children to reflect on making positive choices.
We conclude with Sleep Week, highlighting the vital role that rest plays in learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation. Children will explore healthy sleep habits, with age-appropriate activities ranging from bedtime routine planning to personalised sleep action plans.
Health Month is a celebration of wellbeing and a reminder that healthy habits grow strongest when home and school work together. We look forward to sharing this journey with you and your children.
