Upcoming Year 11 IGCSE/Year 13 IB Exam Updates

Year 11 Exam Updates

Dear Parents,

With just 9.5 days of teaching left, the finish line is very much in sight for our Year 11 students! It has been wonderful to see them stepping up and taking real ownership of their preparation, they are a fantastic group, and you should be incredibly proud of them.

Year 11 students will begin study leave at 3.10pm on Friday 17th April, with their first examination taking place on Friday 24th April. During study leave, students are welcome to come into school to self-study on the Lower Ground Floor (LGF) and the Library should they wish to do so. We would encourage all students to use this time wisely and keep their revision structured and consistent.

A separate email will be sent to Year 11 parents shortly with full details regarding the examination timetable and statements of entry.

Please do get in touch if there is anything we can do to support you or your child during this time. This is a wonderful milestone, and we could not be more excited to support our Year 11 students every step of the way.

Yours sincerely,

Lisa Curley
Head of Year 11

This week we will be holding an IB Examinations Briefing with all Year 13 students ahead of examinations commencing on Monday 27th April. Morning sessions begin at 9.30am and afternoon sessions at 1.30pm. We will share the full details with you afterwards so that you are fully informed.

As ever, please do get in touch if there is anything we can do to help. We are all firmly behind our Year 13 students and cannot wait to cheer them on.

International Day of Happiness at NAIS HK: A Celebration of Joy, Talent, and Community - Charline Procter

The International Day of Happiness began in the most uplifting way on our campus, setting the tone for a day filled with gratitude, creativity, and togetherness. Teachers were welcomed with thoughtful appreciation treats from the PTA—an unexpected but deeply heartwarming gesture that reminded us how valued our work truly is. Throughout the morning, students added to the joy with their own heartfelt messages, creating a ripple of positivity across the school.

By lunchtime, the spirit of community was unmistakable as students and staff came together through creativity and shared experiences. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our much‑anticipated student‑led NAIS Got Talent, a signature event that perfectly captured the essence of happiness, collaboration, and House spirit.

This year’s showcase revealed the breathtaking range of talent within our student body. Performers took to the stage with confidence and passion, offering everything from energetic Bollywood dancing to smooth skateboarding routines, soulful singing, elegant piano recitals, and powerful martial arts demonstrations. It was a remarkable reminder that talent expresses itself in countless forms—and that our students embrace that diversity with enthusiasm.

A particular crowd‑pleaser was 7E’s collaborative dance, which electrified the room and had everyone clapping along. Their synergy, effort, and infectious energy demonstrated the beauty of teamwork and the joy of performing as a united group.

The competition was fierce but friendly, and we extend huge congratulations to our outstanding winners:

  • Lizanne in 8B, crowned the KS3 champion
  • Jack in 13B, winner of the KS4/5 round

Their performances were exceptional, capturing both the judges’ admiration and the audience’s applause.

In addition, Balmoral House emerged victorious in this week’s House Points tally, boosted by their success in the House Friday competition. Their achievement reflects the dedication, creativity, and team spirit displayed by all participants throughout the day.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our incredible student organisers and hosts. A heartfelt thank you go to Mia, Sophie L, Suki, and Ingrid in Year 7 for planning and coordinating the entire event with maturity beyond their years. Their behind‑the‑scenes work ensured everything ran seamlessly. We also applaud , who brought charisma and enthusiasm to their roles as hosts for the KS4/5 round, keeping the audience engaged and entertained throughout.

As the day came to a close, the school buzzed with a shared sense of celebration—of happiness, of talent, and of community spirit. The International Day of Happiness reminded us that joy is most meaningful when shared, and events like NAIS Got Talent strengthen the bonds that make our school such a vibrant place to learn and grow.

What a fabulous celebration it was—I’m already looking forward to the next one!

IB Visual Art Show CTRL+ALT+DEL

We did it! I am writing to share my pride and admiration for our amazing creatives. They produced an excellent show and have been fearless with sharing deeply personal and engaging subject matter. I would like to take this opportunity to champion the students hard work and dedication over the past two years. I would also like to thank our incredible community for coming together, talking with our students, empathising, and understanding their intentions. I have really enjoyed the conversations and discussions around the artworks and issues raised. There are many people to thank including our fantastic creative team, Marketing, IT, admin, maintenance and PTA. Our senior team for giving us the support and creative freedom to communicate freely with impact. Artists and musicians are putting together a blog of their show over the holidays, and we look forward to the launch of this digital exhibition. Watch this space!

HKUST’s visit (March 17) - Woojin Chang

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting a Senior Admission Manager and a Student Ambassador from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). They provided our Sixth Form students with an excellent overview of HKUST's scenic campus, innovative extended majors, and extensive global exchange programs. The student ambassador shared wonderful firsthand experiences about the university's vibrant student life, while the admissions team clarified specific IB requirements and scholarship opportunities. It was a fantastic session that gave our students practical insights into navigating applications for one of Hong Kong's top-ranked universities!

U14 Boys Badminton

In a tough outing, the NAIS HK Knights U14 Boys Badminton team fell to ICHK 6-0. Despite the scoreline, the Knights competed strongly in both singles and doubles, with several matches featuring long, spirited rallies. Although every match finished in straight sets, the closeness of many exchanges highlighted the team’s fight and developing skill. The Knights will take valuable lessons from this defeat as they regroup and prepare for upcoming fixtures. Keep your heads up, Knights!

U16 Boys Badminton A Team

What a way to finish the league campaign — our U16 Boys A team secured a 5–1 victory over ASHK on Tuesday to complete an unbeaten league run and finish top of the table heading into the playoffs. The squad produced strong, composed performances across the court, showing consistency and great teamwork throughout the evening.

A special mention to Ruskin, who battled hard in a tight singles match that went beyond 21 points and required a two‑point margin to close out — a real example of resilience and focus under pressure. With the team finishing first, we head into the semi‑finals and final next week full of confidence and determination to bring home the banner.

U16 Boys Badminton B Team

U16 boys B had an awesome match against Carmel! Full energy from the start, all three singles players brought their best games.

Han Han delivered a standout win in Singles 2, while Singles 1 and 3 were real nail-biters—Preston and Matthew were both pushed to a deciding third set. But when it counted, they lifted their level and closed out the match with strong, convincing finishes, winning their final sets 15–11.

The doubles then added plenty of excitement. All three doubles teams worked hard throughout, with some sensational high-pressure rallies, great jump smashes that came up as winning shots, and excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.

In the end, Nord took the doubles 2 games to 1, and overall, the team powered to a fantastic 5–1 victory. With that momentum, the boys now head into the ISSFHK semi-finals—well done, team!
