Dear Parents,
It has been another busy and inspiring week. Today, we are delighted to welcome our Year 6 students onto campus for taster lessons- an important step in their transition journey. It is always a pleasure to see their confidence grow as they begin to experience secondary school life.
Meanwhile, this is a significant time for our Year 11 and Year 13 students, who continue to approach their examinations with maturity and determination. We wish them every success and encourage the whole community to support them during this important period.
I also had the opportunity last week to visit our new Sixth Form Centre. It is exciting to see how quickly the building is taking shape, and we look forward to welcoming our current Year 11 and Year 12 students to Hung Hom soon, as well as inviting parents to see the new facilities.
Earth Week Reflection – Bulut & Clayton (Year 9) / Gobby Kwong
This Earth Week, we were proud to see four of our Student Leadership Council Committees (Environment, Events, SDG, and AI) come together to promote sustainability across the school. As student leaders, it was great to watch weeks of planning turn into a series of activities that students and teachers enjoyed while also learning something new.
Throughout the week, students got involved by completing tasks to reduce their Carbon Footprint to earn Green Dollars. 85 students participated in the Carbon Footprint Challenge, so it was encouraging to see so many students engaging with small, practical actions to reduce their impact.
On Monday, we held an Earth Hour during form time, switching off lights to raising awareness on saving energy. Tuesday’s leaf hunt had students searching for leaves around the school. Each leaf had a question on sustainability and were printed on recycled paper. Students had to answer the questions in exchange for sweets which were also packaged in biodegradable packaging. On Wednesday, Student Leaders Gabrielle and Megan led a lunch time workshop on upcycling old T-shirts into tote bags. The week ended on Thursday with our Swap Shop comprised of donated items - where students were able to spend their Green Dollars on items, or purchase items with all proceeds going to WWF.
We want to congratulate Nathan L. for not only donating the greatest variety of items for the Swap Shop but also earning the most Green Dollars during the Carbon Footprint Challenge. Thank you to everyone who took part! We’re excited to keep building on this momentum with meaningful Sustainability initiatives later this year.
UK Biology Challenge Reflection – Ethan (Year 10) / Gobby Kwong

On Sunday, 23 students across Years 8 to 10 took part in the UK Biology Challenge, where they showcased outstanding enthusiasm, curiosity, and determination. We are incredibly proud of their willingness to embrace challenges and engage with biology beyond the classroom. Below is a reflection on the experience from Ethan, who also serves as the SLC Science Committee Leader.
“On Sunday, I participated in the UK Biology Challenge. The questions asked were fun and exciting but also challenging. The competition covered a wide range of topics, from cells to immunity and genetics, and required me to think deeply and apply my knowledge in different ways. This experience also reminded me of our school value, “Be Ambitious.” By upholding our school value, it encouraged me to aim higher and achieve as much as I set my mind to. I would highly recommend all students in Year 8 to Year 10 to sign up for this challenge next year as experience is far more important than the score you receive. Through this process, you can learn or develop new skills to tackle future challenges.”
