Dear Parents,

As we settle into our third and final term, there is a real sense of growth, confidence and excitement across the campus. The children are continuing to learn in so many different ways – socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and academically – and it is a joy to see how much they have developed since the start of the year.

You may often hear us talk about holistic development. In simple terms, this means that we focus on developing the whole child, not just academic learning. This includes communication skills, confidence, resilience, creativity, physical wellbeing, and a strong sense of belonging. These skills are essential foundations for future learning and life, and they guide everything we do at our Early Years campus.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: Community and Global Connections

Our Reception Chinese classes are currently preparing very thoughtfully for a special performance at the Sai Kung Community Centre, where they will present a play for members of the elderly community. Opportunities like this are hugely valuable for children. Performing for others helps develop confidence, language skills and teamwork, while also nurturing empathy, respect and social responsibility. It is a wonderful example of children learning that their voices and efforts can bring joy to others.

At the same time, other classes have been busy connecting with our Nord Anglia family of schools in Guangzhou, Beijing, Panyu and Puxi. Through activities such as singing competitions and postcard sharing, the children are experiencing what it means to be part of a wider global community. These meaningful exchanges bring our Global Campus to life and help children develop curiosity, cultural awareness and a sense of connection beyond their immediate environment.

Celebrating Language and Communication

Lu Laoshi is also supporting children who have signed up for the Mandarin Storytelling Competition on 16th May. Storytelling is a powerful way for young children to build language fluency, confidence and expressive skills. We are very proud of all the children who have chosen to take part and look forward to hearing about their experience after the event.

Transitions: Preparing for the Next Step

This final term is also a key time for transitions, as children prepare to move into a new class or onto a new campus. Supporting children through change is an important part of early years education. We introduce transitions gently and in small steps, helping children understand what to expect so that they feel confident, secure and excited about what comes next.

As part of this process, we are pleased to be welcoming colleagues from our Primary Campus to meet children who will be transferring next academic year. Our visitors will include:

  • Mr Sharma, Head of Primary
  • Mr. Gill, Head of Year 2
  • Ms. Ben-Haim, Head of Year 1

We look forward to welcoming them to our Sai Kung Campus and giving children the opportunity to begin forming relationships with familiar faces from their next learning environment.

For children who will remain within our Sai Kung campus, we will also be organising internal transition events to ensure every child feels ready and confident for their next step.

A Time to Celebrate

Alongside learning and preparation, this term is also very much about celebration. There will be many opportunities to recognise the children’s achievements and growth over the year – from celebrating our diverse and vibrant community on International Day, to honouring each child and class during our End of Year Celebrations.

It is truly a privilege to be part of each child’s journey, and we are grateful to share these special moments with you.

Care with Confidence

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting children both at school and at home, we are delighted to share that we will be running Care with Confidence, a two-part workshop series for helpers and carers, hosted by Nord Anglia International Pre-School (Sai Kung) in partnership with the NAIS PTA.

The first session focuses on Emotional, Social and Personal Development and is led by Claire Day, Reception Teacher at Nord Anglia. The second session is a First Aid for Young Children workshop, led by Fiona Chan, a qualified First Aid Trainer and NAIS parent.

Both sessions are designed to support the important role helpers and carers play in our children’s wellbeing and development.

There is still plenty of learning, growing and exploring to come, and we will continue to keep you updated about upcoming events and transition activities as the term progresses.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership.

Yours sincerely,

Ruth Hanson
