Secondary Campus Weekly Update 1 Jun 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 1 Jun 2026

Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to welcome so many of you on Friday for our Keystage 3 Showcase last week. Seeing parents' step into their children’s seats and be taught by them was both inspiring and important—these moments strengthen the connection between home and school and deepen your understanding of your child’s learning.

Thank you to all who have already signed up for International Day. If you haven’t yet, there is still time—this is a vibrant celebration of our diverse community, and your involvement makes it truly special for our students. If you would like to host a table, please sign here.

We also celebrated our Year 13 Graduation, marking a significant milestone for the Class of 2026. Thank you to Katie Iveri, New York Law School graduate, Director of the Capital Markets Consulting Practice at a global financial firm, and NAIS HK parent, for her inspiring words, and to our Sixth Form and Marketing team for such a memorable event.

Today, our staff are focusing on how we can use AI tools to enhance teaching and learning, supporting students to think more critically, work more efficiently, and engage more deeply with their studies. Alongside this, we are beginning to explore a new platform, Toddle, which will be introduced gradually, with further information shared in Term 2 next year.

English Battle of the Books Competition

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 1 Jun 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 1 Jun 2026

On Wednesday the 20th of May, four of our Key Stage 3 students travelled to French International School to participate in the English Battle of the Books competition. Teams that compete are usually between 6 - 12 students, so our team of Sanvi M, Lenna H, Aarav G and Ryan L was small but mighty. The NAIS HK team showed great teamwork, bravery and dedication as they competed against the other schools in their division, placing fourth overall with a total of 43 points - well done to our BOB team!

Review of Health in Action Week – Ms. Wu

🏆 Health in Action Week – Celebrating Our Students

A big thank you to all students who participated in Health in Action Week (18th–22nd May), our student-led initiative in response to the 79th World Health Assembly.

Students learnt about local and global healthcare, explored healthy eating through the lunchbox competition, and expressed creativity through art. We also enjoyed a fantastic, green-themed Dress Down Day in support of Mental Health Awareness Month, raising funds for the HK Hospital Authority Charitable Foundation.

📝 Health Quiz

Students tested their knowledge of local and global health through an online quiz covering topics such as Hong Kong's public healthcare system, mental health support, food safety, disease prevention, and humanitarian crises. The quiz was timed at 15 minutes, and questions were based on research conducted by the Student Wellbeing Committee.

We are incredibly proud of the following students who achieved a perfect score of 15/15:

Yash J | Jacob C | Sihoon O | Arjun C | Vitus C | Hugh L | Mason K

A special mention goes to Arjun C, who completed the quiz in the shortest time with a flawless score – impressive work!

🎨 Paper Plate Painting

During the KS3 lunch break, students explored the NHS Eatwell Guide – a visual model showing how to achieve a balanced diet through five food groups (fruits and vegetables, starchy carbohydrates, proteins, dairy, and oils/spreads). Using paper plates as their canvas, students creatively illustrated what a healthy, balanced meal looks like.

Congratulations to the winners:

  • 1st place: Nathan Y
  • 2nd place: Nicholas F
  • 3rd place: Aidan F

Graduation Reflection – Mr. Spanos

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 1 Jun 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 1 Jun 2026

On Wednesday 29th May we enjoyed celebrating the Year 13 IB graduation with students, their families and teachers.

In his speech, Mr Richardson implored our class of 2026 to focus not on what they hope to achieve but who they want to be. Mrs Thorndike also read a poem about the Year 13s time at NAIS HK highlighting the memories students had created and the lifelong relationships formed.

The ceremony was filled with emotion as we all reflected on our students' time at NAIS Hong Kong with many of the Class of 2026 having studied at the school since we opened in 2014.

Another very special moment was when our students thanked their families in their first language or mother-tongue.

The ceremony also included two inspiring speeches from our Valedictorian, Bona H and Student Ambassador, Aarshi G.

Congratulations to our graduating class of 2026! You have truly left a legacy!

Upcoming KS3 Swimming Gala (Friday 5th June) - Alex Wiltshire

Students from Years 7, 8 & 9, who have signed up to participate should make their own way to the Kwun Tong Swimming Pool for 8.30am, where they will be registered before the start of the gala. For students who take the morning bus into school, there will be a drop off at the school campus and will need to walk to the swimming pool to be registered.

At 2.45pm, once the swimming gala is finished, students will be dismissed from the pool to go home directly.

Students not participating should attend school as usual.

Key information about the Swimming Gala

The closest MTR station is Kwun Tong. The Swimming Pool is about a 5-minute walk from Exit D1. Please note there is no parking at the Swimming Pool.

Students should wear their PE kit shorts with House top for the day and are advised to bring the following:

We recommend students to lock their valuables away for the day or do not bring them to the swimming pool on the day. They are responsible for all their belongings in the stands for the day.

We look forward to seeing the students competing in what I am sure will be a fantastic day!

House Updates – Charline Procter

Over the past few weeks, we have held some incredible House competitions and challenges, with many of them student led!

House Spelling Bee

I am delighted to share the highlights from our thrilling House Friday Spelling Bee! After 14 gripping rounds filled with challenging words, our students showcased not only their spelling skills but also their determination, focus, and resilience.

The competition featured some of the trickiest words in the English language – from 'acquire' and 'embarrass' to 'maintenance,' 'parallel,' 'vacuum,' and even 'xylophone.' Each round tested the participants’ knowledge and composure, making the event both exciting and inspiring.

Congratulations to our winners:

  • 1st Place: Joshua, 7G (Balmoral)
  • 2nd Place: Ernest, 7E (Caernarfon)
  • 3rd Place: Ethan, 8C (Caernarfon)

House Results: Caernarfon – 43 points (Winner)
Sandringham – 31 points (2nd Place)
Balmoral – 23 points (3rd Place)
Windsor – 11 points (4th Place)

This event was solely student-organised and brilliantly led by Aarav in 7A (Balmoral). A huge thank you to all who helped and cheered on their House with kindness and respect. We are grateful to everyone who participated, showcasing our school values of courage and ambition throughout the competition.

The atmosphere was electric, with every participant contributing to their House’s success. It was wonderful to see students embrace the challenge, cheer each other on, and celebrate the joy of language. We are proud of all our spellers for their courage and effort. The Spelling Bee was not just a contest, but a celebration of learning, teamwork, and youthful energy.

Here are the total results from these events:

Congratulations for an incredible win Caernarfon!

Match reports

U12 Boys Football

Our U12 boys football team played Stamford American school at King’s Park on a hot and sweaty afternoon last Thursday.

Closely following the league table and Mo storing the results from other games, the team knew they needed to put in a performance and get a result to help make the play-offs a reality.

A positive start early on saw the team go 1-0 up within the first 5 mins. Positive attacking play with and discipline in defence meant Jonas in goal was almost a spectator in the first half. The Stamford goalkeeper however was kept busy and even relied upon the cross bar to keep the score down. The only thing missing was a wonder goal - Ethan smashing the ball against the bar from distance and great link up play between Davis and Evan almost made it happen. The second half continued in similar fashion with team dominating and almost all play in the attacking half - only a breakaway goal from the opposition in the last few minutes to score was to show for Stamford’s efforts.

A fine squad performance with every player contributing meant a 7-1 victory was secured.
