High School: Christmas in the High School

There are only two more weeks left this term, and the High School of St Andrews International School Bangkok is becoming more festive every day...

After a fantastic High School Book Week, we move to focus on Christmas for the last two weeks of term. As I write this Newsletter, our two Christmas trees - on Floor 1 of the Blue Building, close to the turnstiles and 1aBlue, and in the Atrium - are being decorated to add to the festive decorations that were already put up by the Year 12 students for the the KS3 Winter Disco which took place on Friday.

The Christmas tree in the Blue Building will be where we do our annual Christmas present collection for the Bangkok Refugee Centre. This is an opportunity for everyone in the High School to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.

If you would like to take part in this, please put together a small box filled with gifts and useful items (e.g. small toys, toiletries, books, clothing) that can help the children at the Bangkok Refugee Centre, even if they are facing the difficulty of living as refugees in a foreign country. When you have filled and wrapped your box, please make sure it is clearly labelled with the age-group and gender (if appropriate) that the contents of the box are most suitable for, and then leave it under the Christmas tree in the Blue Building.

Later this week, we will be having Carol singers in the Atrium, followed by the KS4/5 Winter Ball on Saturday. Like the KS3 Winter Disco, this has been organised by groups of Year 12 CAS students, who are raising funds for their various Service Projects, and tickets are still on sale in The Atrium at break and lunchtimes.

On Sunday we host the Central Thailand Mission Carnival - please see the House/CAS Section below for more details - and then we are into the last week of term, with our annual Christmas Fair and Concert taking place on Thursday 14th December - please note that the Primary and High School Fairs and Concerts are taking place on different days to allow parents to be able to attend both.

The Christmas Fair will be hosted by our Business Enterprise, CAS and Senior Studies Students, with lots of activities and food for you to enjoy, and the Christmas Concert will include performances from all of the students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) as well as many of our instrumental and vocal ensembles. Please complete this Google Form so that we can plan for the number of people attending.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide school transport following the 4:00 pm concert. If your child usually uses the school bus please make alternative arrangements for your child to return home at this time.

I look forward to seeing many of you at these events, as we celebrate both Christmas and the end of a Great first term in the new High School.

Alice in Wonderland KS3 performance (6th December)

Alice in Wonderland rehearsals are in full flow with the final performance fast approaching on 6th December at 5.15 p.m. The students have been working incredibly hard since September to create a show that is fun and interesting. The play will be performed in promenade, around the school site. This has resulted in a few challenges that the group have worked hard to overcome to create an exciting final performance. This is a show full of humour, movement, singing and food, a guaranteed good night out! The tickets are on sale from the school office in the Blue building. Be quick as they are selling fast!
