GCSE Art Final Test and Exhibition
On Thursday and Friday this week Year 11 Art students will sit the final test of their two-year GCSE Art course. They have been hard at work over the last eight weeks, researching ideas and creating exciting artwork from the thematic starting point “Beginning and/or End”. This work will culminate with a ten hour controlled test, in which they will produce a work of art, perhaps a painting or a sculpture, that reflects the personal direction of their ideas.
We are delighted to announce that this year our GCSE student artists will have their work assessed by a senior visiting moderator from the Edexcel examination board. This is a very exciting change within the art department. Artwork by our students will be viewed and assessed in an exhibition setting, allowing the work to be experienced and appreciated to its full potential.
From Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th June we will be opening the exhibition to the public. We hope that you will come to see the diverse range of creative talent of our GCSE art students. Here is a small sample of what to expect.
