FOBISIA 2017-18

After an outstanding year of FOBISIA sport in which the Primary won 5 out of 6 Football tournaments, the Basketballers claimed all four U15 and U13 titles, and we won every team title in the U13 Games, we requested a move to the highest levels in FOBISIA.

As of next year, the groups have been changed and at U13 and Primary Level, we are competing against the biggest and best British schools in Asia. This is the next step in our journey and we have set ourselves new targets that will guide our development over the next few years.

We’re very excited by these changes and know that our amazing Flames athletes are excited by the challenges that lie ahead and by the opportunity to test their mettle at the very highest level of school sport in the region.

STA Community Sports Day

Thank you to those who have already sign-up for our Community Sports Day on 10th June. It will be a great deal of fun!

We still have some places available for Volleyball and Water Polo. These will be run as fun events with scratch teams (made on the day). There is no pressure to be an experienced player - I think that all of those signed up so far haven’t played since their High School days!

Please email Miss Aanchal if you’re interested or would like to know more.

Flames Basketball Academy

Our U13B and U15B teams played against For-The-Love on Saturday.

The U13s played very well and it was great to see some less experienced players take to the court and do well. They closed out the game by 10 points.

The U15s were against strong opposition, and with a small team, they worked hard but found the going tough. The U13s who made up the bench gained some valuable extra game-time which will benefit them well in the long run.

The U13s and U15s will be leaving for Phuket on Friday to take part in the first ever 3on3 Basketball Festival.

Events in Term 3

BISP Flying Fish Invitational Swim Meet

Over the long weekend, Marlins traveled down to BISP Phuket to compete in the annual Flying Fish Invitational swim meet. It was great to see how far our swimmers have progressed with lots of PB's set in the pool and lots of our swimmers winning ribbons and medals in their events.

Overall our Marlins performed excellently throughout the weekend, finishing 3rd Overall and 3rd in the Average Team Score. Our Girls also finished 1st Overall in the Girls competition and a special mention to Gorn and Tayla who each won their overall age group category. This is a massive improvement on last years performance, moving from 6th to 3rd position overall.

A big thank you must go to our swimmers, parents and coaches for all the hard work, preparation and commitment that goes into making this team such a success and a big thank you to all of the parents that made the trip down to Phuket to cheer us on!
