The Sports Awards were a special opportunity to celebrate individual and team accomplishments and growth… The House basketball and football competitions were a fun opportunity to have with House friends through sport in our final week of school… Our final 3on3 Basketball Festival of the school year brought together nearly 100 ballers who had a great day of competition and fun. Also, take a look at our famous Summer basketball camp, which runs from 3-7 July, and 10-14 July. Raise your game for next year’s hoops. Read on for details... There are many details to read about and consider as we set our sights on the Sport programme for the 2017-2018 school year.

Sports Awards 2017

Last Thursday, we enjoyed our annual Primary and High School Sports Awards. These are a celebration of our sporting year, a chance to honour the greatest contributions to our squads and an opportunity to enjoy a Flames party!

After watching reviews of the year, over 100 awards were handed out. Special mention needs to be made of our Sports Leader Awards winners in High School, Yei and Emma (Y12) - they have contributed a great deal to our sports programme through volunteering as assistant coaches or running events to raise money for charity. In addition, Yei and Nathalie were winners of the Sports Personality of the Year Award, which recognises all-round contribution to sport at STA.

The Primary and U13 FOBISIA teams - after their incredibly successful Games - were winners of the Team of the Year awards.

With over 100 trophies handed out, it was a pleasure to see so many of our athletes up on stage. It’s not easy to make decisions sometimes on who is the player of the year. We hope that those who miss out will work hard next year in training: turning disappointment into motivation is a great way to stay focused on improvement.

House Basketball & Football

On Monday, High School enjoyed their annual House Basketball & Football competition. Well done to the winning Houses in their individual tournaments. The overall winners will be announced at Friday’s final assembly.

We hope that those who don’t normally participate in sport enjoyed themselves. House sport is a chance for everyone to engage in some recreational activity and those who stepped up today did very well.

Saturday Basketball 3on3 Festival

At our last Saturday session of the year, nearly 100 ballers turned up and took part in our end-of-year tournament. We had five categories across Primary and High School boys and girls, and we hope that the many parents who turned up were suitably impressed by the high standard of even our youngest ballers.

We look forward to continuing the fun in 2017-18.

Please remember that we are running our usual Summer Basketball Camp for the first 2 weeks of the holiday at B-Pro, Onnut 17. You may sign-up on Moodle or turn up on the day.

The Year Ahead

Our programme is now concluded for the year: and what a year it has been! We now turn our attention to 2017-18.

We are finalising arrangements for our Sports Programmes at 71 and Srivikorn, including new relationships with football, basketball, gymnastics, fitness and tennis external providers who will assist us with our coaching programme.

Sign-ups for new squads will take place in the first week back, with trials beginning on the first Thursday and continuing into Week 2.

There will be new opportunities for parents too, all of which will be shared in August.

We also have some new additions to our uniforms, so that Tennis, Golf and Badminton have something suitable to wear, and the Marlins girls will be able to buy a pair of board shorts to cover up between races.

There’ll be a lot of information to share in Term 1, but if you ever have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Ollie (Head of PE and Sport), Mr. Damon (Head of Primary PE). K. X (Head of Aquatics) or K. Goh (Head of Primary Swimming).
