It has been almost one year after the passing of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej which appeared to be one of the greatest losses of the lifetime of Thai people. The much-revered and beloved King passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on 13th October 2016 at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok. The process of the Royal Cremation and the merit-making activities are planned to last five days starting from 25th until 29th October 2017 at Sanamluang Royal Crematorium where the “architecture of heaven” – an elegant nine-spired funeral pyre for the late King has been built for the ceremony. On 26th October, the Royal Cremation Ceremony will take place between 17.30 hr and 22.00 hr. The actual cremation is scheduled for 22.00 hr.
To express the profound sense of mourning that we all feel from the loss of our beloved Majesty the late King Bhumibol, St Andrews International School Bangkok would like to encourage the entire school community to observe an appropriate dress code in respect to this great man. If possible, we ask that you wear black or dark clothing, or at the very least, tone down the colours of your shirts or dresses for the entire month of October. Students should still come to the school wearing their normal school uniforms. However, during October we will not be wearing House Colours until the mourning period and the royal cremation is finished.
This week Rembrandt Family Studios will be taking individual and class photographs at the Primary School from Monday 18th September to Friday 22nd September in the Drama Studio. These photographers will be taking class photos for the Yearbook which students will be receiving at the end of the school year. Also, there will be also an opportunity for your children to take photographs with their siblings in the Drama Studio before the school starts from 7.00 am to 7.45 am and after school from 2.30 - 3.30 pm. Details about these photos were sent by email last Friday. High School students’ individual photos will be taken next week, with Tutor Group photo sessions planned for later in the year.
PTG’s Annual General Meeting
Thank you to everyone who came to the PTG’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday and to everyone who either voted on the day or prior to the meeting. Congratulations to the members who were re-elected, as well as to the two new members voted into Committee. I look forward to working with you over this school year. Please see the PTG section to find out more details about the election and the composition of this year’s PTG Committee. Information on the committee and what they do can be found on Moodle at
