Art: Spotlight on Art Department ECA Creativity

This term some beautiful and thoughtful work has been coming out of the creative activities of the Art Department at St Andrews International School Bangkok.

As Term 1 hurtles towards the Christmas holidays, we wanted to reflect on the creative work coming out of the Art Department’s ECA programme. This year we have been able to increase the number of activities available and run a great variety of workshops, including fashion design, photography, abstract painting and Op Art. Students from all age groups in High School have been able to use the time to experiment with techniques and pursue artistic processes. Here is a small selection of the creative endeavours of our students, from Miss Liat’s Open Studios, the Abstract Painting group, the Art Portfolios for CAS students, Miss Karen’s Fashion Illustration group, Miss Marina’s Op Art group, Mr Mike’s Advanced Art group and Mr Tim’s Photography and Photoshop group.

Artist of the Week

This week our ‘Artist of the Week’ award goes to Noodee in Year 11. Noodee’s GCSE portfolio is outstanding throughout, but we have selected her exquisite “Fragmented Portrait of a Young Woman”. This highly detailed drawing demonstrates a high level of skill and communicates a dream-like quality through the dislocation of facial features and the use of painted lines.
