Physics/Science Teacher

  • Period: Full Time
  • Contract: 2 Year Contract
  • Closing date for applications: 02 March 2018

Physics is a popular and well-established subject at St Andrews and we are looking for an experienced and inspiring teacher to join the Science team. Class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 13. Previous experience teaching these Science at IGCSE and IB would be a significant advantage. We would also welcome applications from candidates with a commitment to, and experience of, more holistic, STEAM approaches who can contribute to the development of our new integrated Technology course in Key Stage 3 - Students have two lessons of Technology each week and cover topics and skills from Design Technology, ICT and Computing Science.

All students study Science throughout Key Stage 3, with schemes of work based on the English National Curriculum but adapted to reflect both the international nature of our students and to better prepare them to study single Sciences at both IGCSE and IB. At Key Stage 4, all students must study at least one Science, with many studying two or more, chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Management. In Key Stage 5, all students must study at least one Science as part of the IB Diploma Programme, with many students studying two chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Design Technology, Environmental Systems and Societies and Physics.

At St Andrews, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and have an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB.

All Science classrooms have data projectors, interactive whiteboards and access to the internet, and there is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum, where appropriate, with laptop carts, iPads and ICT labs bookable when required. As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.

St Andrews is committed to ensuring the safety of all our students, and expects all staff to share the same commitment (see our Child Protection Code of Conduct). No teacher will be appointed without at least two references, including one from the most recent employer, a ten year criminal record check and relevant regional Prohibition Order/DBS checks.

If you would like to apply for a position at our school please complete the application process through Jobtrain, accessible via the Nord Anglia Education website.

If you require any further information, please email recruitment@standrews.ac.th. The closing date for applications is Friday 2nd March 2018, with applications being reviewed as they are received.
