IB Visual Arts Exhibition 2018

High School: Beautiful work on display at STA

Some beautiful creative work at both last week’s Rec-I-Tal and IB Visual Arts Exhibition and two more very busy weeks before the Songkran holiday.

It was great to see so many students and parents at last week’s Rec-I-Tal and IB Visual Arts Exhibition Opening, with a lovely atmosphere, and a great deal of beautiful work, on display at both events.

The IB Visual Arts Exhibition Opening almost felt like a Visual Arts Graduation, with many of the students describing the journey that they have been on in their Visual Arts lessons, and in all their work outside these lessons, since they began studying IB Visual Arts in August 2016, and they, and their parents and Ms Lisa, their teacher, should all be very proud of a fantastic Exhibition.

This week we have the Year 7 and 8 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings, following the publication of KS3 Term 2 Grade Reports on Friday, preceded by each Year Group’s concert, with the concerts taking place in the Atrium from 4:00 - 4:30. I am sure that these concerts will also be full of beautiful performances. Parents of students in Year 9 will be receiving information about their Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings, taking place on Tuesday next week, from Ms Wendy very soon.

Also this week, Year 9 will have their rearranged House Athletics and we will have very special visitors on both Tuesday and Thursday - Boyd Kosiyapong and Khun Jidanun Leungpiansamut. On Friday we will have a Tanzanian Flag Colours Non-Uniform Day to raise funds for the Service Projects that the students worked on.

I look forward to seeing you at these events, but unfortunately I will not be here for either Boyd Kosiyapong’s visit or the Year 7 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings, as Mr Will and I are currently in Singapore at the IB Global Conference and the IB Heads World Conference.

After one day of the conference, which started on Sunday morning, we have already had lots of great presentations and discussions, with over 1,800 IB Coordinators and Heads from all over the Asia-Pacific Region, and the world. I will write more about the conference in next week’s Newsletter.
