sport day 2018

Primary School Sport: Representing your House

We have 3 Sports days this week … with House Points and bragging rights up for grabs.

Sports Days

Our Sports Days got off to a great start with YAO being crowned 2018 Reception Sports Days Champions.  The children worked exceptionally well over 2 hours of sport and there was only 16 points difference between 1st and 2nd place.  A big thank you to the Year 6 leaders who were amazing with the Reception children.  Still to come:

  • Tuesday 1st May - Year 1 & 2 Sports Day;
  • Wednesday 2nd May - Year 3 & 4 Sports Day

Swimming

After the great results at the Marlin Mayhem, our swimmers will be full of confidence going into the last competitions of the school year. We have the Flying Fish Swim Meet at BISP from the 3-5 May.

Water Polo: Apologies, Shrewsbury have cancelled this event.  This a real shame as so many children were looking forward to the tournament.  Let's hope they can rearrange it.

Football

We have two great football tournaments coming up in the next two weeks.  Firstly, this coming Sunday we have 3v3 @ NIST.  Then on the 12 May, we have an important tournament for our FOBISIA children with valuable game time before the FOBISIA Games.

  • 3v3 Tournament @ NIST - Sunday 6 May (Children have been selected - teams posted on the PE notice board)
  • Harrow Festival - 12 May - U9/U11 teams

Gymnastics

Well done again to all the girls who competed at the BISAC Gymnastics Invitational at the weekend. The competition was incredible but our girls managed to finish in some high places.  Our gymnasts have worked so hard over the last 6 months and now are competing at a fantastic level.  Thank you to Miss Bogi for all her hard work. Our next competition is on the 9th/10th May @ NIST.

Tennis

Best of luck to all the children that are competing at the U11 BISAC singles tennis tournament at Patana at the weekend.

FOBISIA Training

Thank you to all the parents that came to the FOBISIA parents meeting last Thursday.

Athletics training will be at the Ramkhamhaeng University Track on the 9th/16th/23rd May.  This will be great preparation for our young athletes to work on their track and field events in the proper environment.

It is now time to start thinking about the kit your child will need for the FOBISIA Games. All items are available in the Uniform Shop. If your child does not have the Flames Teeball logo on their PE top please bring it to K. Seung to have the logo added.

  • STA Cap
  • STA tour bag or rucksack
  • Athletics vest
  • PE top with Flames Teeball logo
  • PE shorts x 2 or 3 (athletics, football and teeball)
  • Yellow football top
  • STA football socks
  • Tour top
  • Marlins top
  • School swim suit
  • STA Swim cap
  • Goggles

Term 3 Training

  • Wednesday - All FOBISIA SQUAD (Years 6,5,4) will have athletics training. This will give all children a chance to work on their athletic events.
  • Friday - All FOBISIA SQUAD (Years 6,5,4) will have teeball training at the Arsenal training facility Pridi Soi 21. We normally only do this a couple of times before FOBISIA, but by using the bigger teeball pitches at Arsenal for longer, we will be better prepared.

If you have any questions please email damon.se@standrews.ac.th">Mr Damon.

School Online Communication System - SOCS

We hope you may have had a chance to look at our news Sports portal, where we are already posting fixtures, team sheets, photos etc for our busy sports schedule. You may access it using this link.

The site is open for players and parents alike to check rosters, schedules etc. It is a great tool for communication between coaches, players and parents, though unlike the current system, the emphasis will be on parents and players to be proactive in checking the site, rather than awaiting emails from coaches!

We will still need to communicate via email for transport requirements for the time being.

Mr. Ollie presented the new system to the High School students in early March so that they may get to know it. He’ll recommend to them that they show it to you too, in case you’re interested.

We recommend that you visit the site and familiarise yourself with it. If you have any feedback, please let either damon.se@standrews.ac.th">Mr Damon or ollie.fa@standrews.ac.th">Mr Ollie know.

By August, we hope everyone will be ready to use SOCS to follow the action!

Saturday Programme and Outside Opportunities

Our Saturday program continues to grow and it is great seeing so many of our STA children coming to school to enjoy playing sport together.

On saturday we had our very first Saturday football.  Close to 60 children were at STA on Saturday to enjoy playing football.  If the weather is bad then training will continue in the Redroom.

I will send an email to parents but due to a recent development we can not do Saturday Football on the 16th June so it will change to 19th May.

Also, we have the Open and Flames basketball which once again continues to grow with so many children enjoying playing and being coached a high level of basketball.
