High School Sports Awards

St Andrews International School Bangkok is very excited that our awards this year will be presented during our gala dinner on Wednesday, 27th June at 6:30pm. Please note that students will be able to book a table if they see Miss Wendy with a list of 10 names once payment has been made. Otherwise, places will be allocated on the night.

Parents’ tickets are on sale now. We anticipate a good number of tickets available to parents but this is dependent on how many students attend. Parents will also be able to book a whole table. More details to come.

Basketball Summer Camp

We’re offering 4 weeks of camp this summer for anyone in Y3-9. Ballers will be split into ability and age groups and work on their technical skill. There’ll be plenty of scrimmage time each session too! Sign-up is on Moodle as usual. Look in the left-hand column on the homepage for Bball Summer Camp.

You may sign up by the day. Drop-ins and non-STA friends will also be accepted though these are dependent on numbers each day. If you have any queries, please contact Miss Aanchal or Mr. Ollie.

We have a last friendly game tomorrow between our Flames team and our parents, The Spicy Spikers. Coach Bevin is also creating a team of our rookie players in Y7 and 8 who started this term. Tomorrow will give them their first competitive experience and I’m sure they’ll enjoy it immensely. The fun starts from 3.30pm!

Flames Basketball Academy

We’re working on plans to develop our weekend programme, which, we hope, will include opening up to non-STA ballers in new sessions added to the schedule. We often have requests for this, and we think it will provide new opportunities for our own ballers to play against some new opponents. Watch this space.

Our track trial last Friday was very successful and will help us to identify the athletes to do the track events. The team will be posted this week. Field trials will take place at school in Term 1.

Squad trials for 2018-19

Our trials process will begin in the first week back when students will be asked to register for trials. All students who sign up will be allowed to attend trial starting Wednesday 22 August and continuing through Week 2.

Training will begin from Wednesday 29 August.

Please note we run year-round training in most sports and students are expected to attend all year in order to gain maximum benefit from the programme. At any point in the year, students may request a trial. We’re always happy to see how they may have progressed. It’s not possible for students to participate in every sport but we hope that they find plenty to enjoy in the programme. They should be able to do 2-3 different sports.

We’re pleased to add gymnastics next year to the list as follows: football, basketball, rugby, touch rugby, badminton, tennis, volleyball, golf, table tennis.

Flames on Facebook

Just a reminder to join our STA Flames and Marlins Group on Facebook, as we’d like to use this to keep everyone updated on games, training etc. We know that not everyone is a Facebook user, but we would recommend joining the group even if you don’t use Facebook for any other reason.

It’s a very convenient way for us to reach out and share information from wherever we are. We’re also on Instagram and continue to use our St Andrews Facebook page to post photos of our amazing Flames and Marlins in action.
