High School: Fantastic results

Another excellent set of IGCSE results to begin the year, and news on the Summer’s IB results and the forthcoming Parents’ Information Evenings.

igcse results

Congratulations to last year’s Year 11 students, shown above, and their teachers from the last two years and before. After their excellent CIE IGCSE results issued before the start of term, last week the school, and the students, received their Edexcel results, with 88% of the students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades.

These are our best ever IGCSE results, beating last year’s 86% and, as I will discuss in the forthcoming Parents’ Information Evenings, show excellent progress both for the individual students and the Year Group as a whole.

We are also very pleased that 44% of all the IGCSE grades awarded were either an A* or an A grade - again our best ever percentage - with 23 students, including all those shown above, achieving an average grade of an A or better.

Last year’s Year 11 students have now begun their Senior Studies Programme and at the beginning of the summer we received last year’s Year 13 students’ IB Diploma Programme results, again with some excellent results.

Anushka, Jeraldine, Kulinna and Sindy (shown above at last year’s Graduation Ceremony) all achieved scores of of 40 points or more, among the highest scores in the world, and there were many other success stories throughout the Year Group, with many students making excellent progress during Years 12 and 13.

I will talk more about these excellent results at the forthcoming Parents’ Information Evenings, when we will be able to give both new and returning parents a great deal of information about life in the High School, and answer any questions that you have, as well as giving parents an opportunity to meet their son/daughter’s Tutor. All parents should have already received an e-mail about these from their son/daughter’s Tutor(s).

These Information Evenings will also include some information about using Moodle, but for any new parents, or returning parents who have further questions about the use of Moodle, Mr Keith, our Director of Learning Technologies, will be running another drop-in Moodle Workshop from 7:45 onwards on Tuesday this week.

On Thursday this week, the PTG will be hosting a “New to Bangkok” Coffee Morning, starting at 8.15 a.m. in the Drama Studio at the Primary School. This is a chance for all parents, new and old, Primary and High School, to get to know each other and have an informal chat about anything that is on your mind, whether it is school-related or about where to live, the best places to shop, things to do at the weekend, activities for your children...

As I promised last week, a downloadable pdf of this term’s High School Calendar is available here. While this will hopefully be very useful for many parents, please also keep an eye on the school’s Google Calendars, available on the school’s website, in case of any changes throughout the term.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Parents’ Information Evenings.
