Head’s Lines: A term’s worth of achievement and success

The ECA Dance performances last Friday really emphasised the fantastic progress students made over this term...This success was also on display Saturday during the STA Swim Champs 2019 at High School...Find out more about the Christmas events and concerts wrapping up the Term before the holidays at St Andrews International School Bangkok.

There was a really great atmosphere in Drama Studio last Friday with the ECA dance performances. There was just an amazing number of talented children who, along with their teacher’s guidance, have obviously been developing some fantastically varied dance routines across a wide range of styles over this past term.  The Drama Studio brought together a packed audience of proud parents and children eager to see these wonderfully choreographed performances. Once word gets out about the quality of these dance numbers our students are putting on, we will most certainly have to hold this event in the Sports Hall in the future.

Thank you to all the staff involved in running these extracurricular dance activities and for being there on Friday to organise all the children. A special thank you goes to Miss Cherry who continues to be a valuable source of inspiration in getting children to love dance and perform with her in all the different activities we now have running across the Primary School.

It was truly a privilege on Saturday morning to attend the STA Swim Champs 2019 at the High School. All our swimmers and parents really enjoyed spending the day at High School’s wonderful facilities, with the events at the swimming pool serving as the main attraction, of course. Thank you to Coach X and his team for doing such a fantastic job in organising this special day alongside our Marketing and Estates teams.

There will be a ‘Community Carol Singing’ event next Friday at 7:30 am in the Year 6 Quad.  Please come along to a lovely way to start the day and fill up your hearts with some Christmas cheer. To get warmed up for this event, afterschool on Tuesday, our Primary School Choir will be going to the Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit to sing some carols and other festive Christmas songs to celebrate the lighting of the hotel’s Christmas tree.

Certainly, the highlights next week will be the Christmas Fairs and Music Concerts at the Primary School on Wednesday 11th December, and at High School on Thursday 12th December. These wonderful events will really put an exclamation mark on this first term, leaving just our final school assemblies on Friday to place this term in review and prepare everyone for a relaxing Christmas holiday.

Environmental Award

We received some fantastic news last week! The 2020 International School Awards has shortlisted St Andrews International School Bangkok for an award in the “Environmental Initiative” category for our EcoBeasts (Bangkok Education for Action on Sustainability Team) project.

The project started a city-wide networking initiative bring together international school, teachers, students and local sustainability groups to assist Bangkok schools in becoming models of sustainability.

Alongside this, an impactful ECA programme raised awareness and provided student-led change to support the environment across the Primary School campus.

Over 250 initiatives were nominated this year in a range of categories highlighting some of the best practices in international school learning, teaching and leadership. The awards ceremony will take place in London on the 20th January 2020.

Nord Anglia Parents Survey

Last week a link was emailed home to every family so that everyone can access and hopefully complete this year’s Nord Anglia Parents Survey. Thank you for all the feedback from those who may have had some issues in completing the survey. I think most of these glitches have been sorted out now, and I hope that everyone will be able to find some time to complete it. We can really use the information to put together a positive development programme to move our school and our community forward.
