Last weekend, five of your teachers (Mr Jarrod, Mr Joe and Ms Anna from High School, and Miss Sarah and Miss Anna from Primary) took part in the AFL Asian Championships, held in Pattaya. Australian Football is a fast-paced team game where the aim is to kick the ball between the goalposts without it being touched by any other player, then 6 points are awarded. (If the ball goes through the second set of posts, or if the ball is touched then 1 point is scored). 24 teams travelled from around Asia representing 14 countries. In total there were over 600 people both local and expats enjoying this sporting event.
Whilst there has been an established men’s team in Thailand for years, this was an exciting weekend for the Thailand Tigers club as it saw the debut of a women’s team. Ms Anna Sheppard even scored the first-ever goal for the club! The Men came second in their division whilst the women won their playoff to end up fifth.
The club has a men’s, women’s and children’s team. If you or your child is interested in trying this sport please email Mr Jarrod (email@example.com) for further details.
