Following teacher training in New York over the summer, we were joined by Donna Costello who delivered workshops to the children and a small group of parents. Donna also spent time with the Performing Arts department and PE department coaching them further in the Juilliard method of teaching.

The Juilliard Approach to classroom instruction can be summarized in 5 key values: Success for all, active and exploratory learning, igniting creativity, inquiry and reflection and meaningful encounters with high quality resources.

This term Year 6 have been working on the Core Work “From Street to Stage” in Dance. In this core work we take a close up look at the choreography of Rennie Harris using two of his pieces, “Continuum” and “Unlocked” and learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop. The children have had great fun with this and certainly come up with some new and exciting moves!
