Year 3 Trip to Laoshe Teahouse

31 January 2019

As part of Year 3’s topic Light, the children have been learning about shadows. During this topic the children have the opportunity to explore what makes a shadow and have found out that a shadow is formed when an object blocks light.

For our trip, we went to the Laoshe Teahouse to watch a shadow puppet performance. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching three different shows that were brilliantly performed by members of the Teahouse and all told a different story.

After the performances, the children were lucky to get to control the puppets in small groups. This gave them the opportunity to understand how the puppets were controlled and the level of difficulty it takes to control them which was not as easy as the performers made it look! Overall, a successful and fun trip!
