Saying Goodbye

This week we say 'Goodbye' to our Year 13 and Year 11 students, albeit a temporary farewell as they will be returning to sit their examinations in the forthcoming weeks. It has been an honour to work with them and to support their learning; of course, this support continues as we hold opportunities for continued revision sessions - times communicated directly to the students - and as we prepare for the Year 13 graduation ceremony on May, 28th,  as well as the ensuing results in July and August. Our Careers and University Guidance Counsellor has communicated details of the results release and informed students of all necessary procedures. I will ensure that this is all confirmed via e-mail in due course. Please be assured that our support will continue as our students either head off to university or return to us as IB Diploma Programme students. 
 
The baton has been picked up this week by members of our Student Leadership Team who were invited to participate in the British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary round table discussion about generation differences. Guen and Kang ably represented the ‘Z’ generation at the conference. Please read all about the event from their personal perspective in this week's newsletter.
 
For other students there is such a flurry of activity with work experience for our Year 10 students and our residential trip week final preparation for the week commencing 31st May; selection, sign up and payment details have been sent out this week for students in Years 7 to 9 and I would encourage you to return those at your earliest convenience. 
 
Today, throughout the whole school, we celebrated Earth Day - a global event that has been established since the 1970s; it is a movement that continues to inspire, challenge ideas, ignite passion and motivate people to action. A number of activities including tutor room quizzes, inter-house debate, art projects, and music have placed a firm focus on our responsibility to protect and fight for a clean environment. Thank you to Mr. Taylor for his enthusiastic and energetic encouragement in making this a whole school event.
