On Thursday 1st February the Year 12 BISB Community Links Club organised the annual ‘1% Charity Fair’ event where select charity organisations of various backgrounds in and around District 3 were invited to talk about their aims and major activities.

This event had the intent to raise awareness about ongoing issues present in Hungary today, along with building closer relationships with charities in and around the school community. The organisers thus facilitated an opportunity for parents and staff members to extend their support and help by providing knowledge of the possibility of donating 1% of personal income tax towards projects that make a difference in society.

We were very pleased to host the following charities:

SOS-Gyermekfalu Magyarországi Alapítványa

St Margaret’s Anglican Episcopal Church

Yfu Hungary

Óbuda Community

Budapest Bike Maffia

Oltalom Homeless

Light in the Dark Foundation

Csodalámpa

Karitatív Food for Life

Világszép Foundation

Vasas Centenarium Alapitvany

The event was organised by Year 12 students in a collaborative effort which will also eventually contribute to the students’ IB Diploma CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service). We are happy to note that compared to last year, there was an increased attendance by charities and guests which will eventually bring in greater results. We hope that this event will continue in the future and more people will become aware of donating 1% of their personal income tax for the betterment of the society in Hungary.

Thank you.
