The Higher Level Year 12 Biology students were given an extended project challenge to complete just before the Christmas break. This project was designed to allow students to combine their creative and artistic skills with scientific knowledge.

They were tasked with creating a 3D model of a DNA molecule as part of their learning in the Biological Molecules topic. They could work by themselves, in a pair or trio and had two weeks to complete it. Their models needed to show the complex structure of DNA and its unique base pairing and also needed to include some details or descriptions about the key parts of the molecule.

The Year 12 Biologists rose to the challenge by producing some very creative and well thought out models. Congratulations to 1st place winners: Kasper Mikkelsen and Abel Nagy, who not only produced an accurate and creative model but included a key with further details. Runners up for their equally unique models were Rebecca Possenti & Grace Ye and Pedram Noohi & Georgiosz Kukumzisz.

Well done to all the Year 12 Biologists for showing their high academic excellence, ambition and creative spirit.
