BISB students visit MIT Four students from BISB enjoyed an inspirational trip to MIT in the USA for the Nord Anglia STEAM festival.

104 students from around the world came together in Massachusetts to take part in lectures and workshops covering a range of technical areas, meeting world leading experts in their chosen fields. David Halasz, András Blunck, Fruszina Lakatos and Izabella Rea accompanied by Mr Payn made up the BISB contingent.

The week included a myriad of experiences with some amazing highlights. These are the first to come to mind:

“Ritu Raman’s creation was amazing because she created a living robot from her own materials.” David

“Learning that viruses can be useful to cure cancer from Professor Angela Belcher’s talk on DNA and the periodic table was really interesting.” András

“I never built a circuit before, so making the LED box was a great experience. It was hard but we never gave up. I will keep the box I made to remind me of this awesome trip.” Fruzsina

“The 2.009 Day was great, getting to plan and build something in one day. We were able to collaborate with new people and make new friends. It was very challenging to build a device for people with different disabilities. In the end, we decided to build a robot that picked up and compressed rubbish, which moved around on wheels, controlled with a remote control.” Izabella

Our four students were outstanding, being recognised by many as some of the most polite and engaged of all the young people attending. We can be really proud of the way they represented BISB at this prestigious international event.
