Rowing across the Atlantic

Rowing across the Atlantic

You will all know Katherine Walker, our Director of Admissions and Marketing. But, did you know that her sister Liz Dennett is currently rowing across the Atlantic Ocean, from Lanzarote to Antigua, in a tiny rowing boat with only 3 teammates for company? For 45 whole days? And she's doing all this to raise money for charity? Liz was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease 6 years ago and this row is part of a research project into how the disease is affected by exercise. Liz will be the first person with Parkinson’s to row across the Atlantic and the first woman with Parkinson’s to row any ocean. Katherine is incredibly proud of her sister - and, right now,  more than a little worried for her safety!

In solidarity with Katherine and her sister Liz, the BISB Staff Committee have decided to organise a Sponsored Row on 31st January 2020, on rowing machines in our very own Atrium, so that we can share a little of what Katherine and her sister are going through, and raise some extra funds for this very worthy cause. The rowing teams (the real one, and our BISB one!) will donate money raised to European Parkinson’s Disease Association.
