A  group of Year 12 students – Alice, Anira, Giulia, Hanna and Noa – meet every Tuesday after school to learn more about Tanzania (including the educational system, nature, wildlife, history and much more).

They are researching the country and planning fundraising events. They have already met virtually with Rebecca Jackson, one of the founders of Seeway Tanzania – the NGO with which we have established a close working relationship in recent years. The project leader is Ms Ildikó Tóth, who has experience of Tanzania, as she was a volunteer there 2011 and also took part last academic year on the BISB Tanzania Expedition.

The students and Ms Tóth decided that they will support the children in Tanzania even from a distance and will raise money for school supplies (school bags, exercise books, pens, pencils…) for pupils and students. These essential items are often very hard for poorer families to purchase and without these, they are not allowed to attend school.

For this reason, using all of their energy and passion, the students created two lovely cookbooks with traditional recipes and are offering these to people interested in return for a donation to the project.

On 9th December - Tanzanian Independence Day, an online fundraiser will start and will run until the end of the year.

More details about the online fundraising will be shared in the next newsletter and on our social media pages.
