Many thanks to everyone who completed this year’s parent survey. We had a record number of responses and will be looking carefully through the detailed results to help decisions on what we need to improve next. In the past, we have introduced triple sciences and additional maths for Years 10 & 11, economics for Years 12 & 13, and improved the co-curricular activities programme for all students. The latter is a work in progress, I admit, but as our ISI inspection report confirms, provision is excellent and students gain enormously. We are not complacent, however, and the survey always helps us decide what to improve next.

Our school campus is almost unrecognisable compared to four years ago, with the main extension building and Bistro, Theatre, Sports Centre and pitches, new Primary and Early Years playgrounds, a resurfaced and expanded basketball court and terracing all appearing as a result of investment following parent surveys. Less visible, perhaps, are IT infrastructure upgrades to enable over 1000 iPads, laptops and desktop computers to have great Wi-Fi access simultaneously, new flooring and lighting, and a refurbished Early Years cloakroom area.

There are some significant headlines to share from this year’s survey. 94% of you feel that your child receives a high quality education at BISB, up a touch from 93% last year but on the back a steady five year rise from 77% in 2015. 94% say your child is happy and 96% that your child feels safe at school. 91% of you say your child is making good progress, up from only 79% five years ago.

We will be working through the fine detail of your feedback in the coming weeks and will communicate the headlines on what you feel we do well on and what we can improve through this Newsletter.
