Tanzania Expedition - A New Approach

Our outstanding Nord Anglia Education Tanzania Expedition planned for this school year will be suspended due to the uncertainty over how the Covid-19 pandemic will develop. Although this is disappointing, we are pleased to be able to provide service opportunities for our students and continuity of support for our partners in Tanzania.

In the past, each student taking part in our Tanzania expedition raises US$350 through personal service efforts to contribute to a project and enable face-to-face support work in Tanzania. Over the years we have taken on some truly ambitious projects alongside our partners, Seeway Tanzania https://www.facebook.com/SWTzkids. We have funded and built nursery schools, toilets, kitchens, classrooms, play facilities, water collections systems, biogas facilities, solar powered lighting and implemented sustainable agriculture programmes.

Last year we embarked on our most ambitious project yet, to build a brand new secondary school to support the growing community of Kiwawa. This will solve many issues in the community and ensure a safe, high quality education for generations to come.

Currently, the work has had to stop leaving a partially complete school. The Expedition Team has decided to do what they can through personal fundraising efforts to try a bridge the funding gap. If you would like more information on what is happening now in Tanzania, please follow our fundraising page on Facebook ‘Kiwawa School Fundraiser’.

At BISB, Year 12 students in our Tanzania CCA will have the chance to learn more about the Tanzania Expeditions, about community work, about voluntary work and they will organise events in school to support the work at Kiwawa Secondary School.

If you feel able to kick start the BISB contributions with a donation, click on the following link:
