The Learning Commons library is the heart of the Upper School campus. With 7500 square feet of space, the Learning Commons offers comfortable seating for 150 students and faculty to collaborate, work quietly, read and research. With four small group rooms, a concentrate (quiet) zone, a collaborative (low volume talking) zone, our Learning Commons is loaded with space to work and grow (even while charging devices at locations throughout the space).
The Learning Commons collection consists of over 18,000 shelved items, over 100,000 ebooks & audiobooks (both fiction and nonfiction), over 20 databases, and apps loaded onto student iPads that offer access to books and magazines. Myriad useful items such as iPads, Kindles, bluetooth speakers, even movie projectors and presentation clickers are available.
The Virtual Library never closes. Links to all digital resources plus an online catalog of all shelf items can be found by clicking on our Virtual Library
The Learning Commons offers flexible space that can host multiple classes at once, for such events as Shakespeare performances, National History Day fairs, reading celebrations, book fairs, even musical performances and concerts. It’s one of the most beautiful and inviting spaces on campus--every single piece of artwork was student created--a popular place to be.
