It was "A Hot Time in the Old Town" Chicago as Art students from NBPS, explored, engaged and enjoyed NAE Art Festival 2017. Celebrations were in order for Frank Lloyd Wright's 150 birthday as the students explored his Oak Park home and neighborhood on a glorious sunny fall day. They learned of his passion for architecture and of his contribution to how we build open plan houses today. A visit to the Field museum brought them face to face with the mummies and tombs of ancient Egypt, followed by watching the setting sun over Chicago 103 floors up in Wills Tower. A trip to Chicago would however not be complete without witnessing and thinking about Van Gogh, Monet, Toulouse Lautrec, Picasso, Grant Wood to mention just a few in The Art Institute or competing against each-other to build the tallest popsicle stick skyscraper. Walking through the pedway and seeing the world's largest Tiffany dome and Chicago's famous skyline from lake Michigan brought home the wondrous efforts of artists and architects who put Chicago on the map!
