Updated National Rankings! The Policy and PF program have grown leaps and bounds in the last few years. Congratulations to Nicholas Mancini (Senior) and Giorgio Rabbini (Senior) for keeping their 1st place ranking in the country in the latest national coaches poll, and for Akash Deo (Sophomore) and Anna Farronay (Junior) for cementing their place at 15th in varsity policy debate. We also want to celebrate Tyler Katz (Junior) and Andrew Peterson (Junior) who broke into the top 10 in the country in varsity public forum debate.
Special Congratulations to Mr. Shree Awsare who was honored with an award for coaching excellence for successful debate coaches who are in their first 5 years of tenure in Broward County.
The Eagles had an extremely successful weekend at Cypress Bay, winning a small navy of awards. We had 15 students attend, and 10 made it to elimination rounds. Congratulations to the following debaters:
Tyler Katz (Junior) and Andrew Peterson (Junior) were invited to the Cypress Bay Round Robin, featuring some of the best and brightest of FL Public Forum. KP completed their Round Robin as co-champions, winning their pod of the Round Robin. KP then attended the tournament proper, where they finished their run as quarterfinalists and received their third Gold bid to the TOC in varsity Public Forum. Tyler was the 1st place speaker out of 138 competitors from across the country after receiving a perfect score of 30 in 5 of his 6 debates.
Policy closed out the finals. Giorgio Rabbini (Senior) and his hybrid partner, Eugenia Giampetruzzi won 1st place in the varsity policy division, receiving a bid to the TOC. Eugenia was 1st place speaker, and Giorgio was 2nd place speaker.
Daniel Ardity (Junior) and Tyler Brown (Soph) were the other pair that closed out finals. They received their 2nd bid to the TOC, fully qualifying them in Varsity Policy. Daniel was 6th place speaker and Tyler was 7th place speaker.
Jay Gopal (Soph) and Dev Gopal (8th Grade) were in semifinals of varsity policy and were walked over by our other team. They received a ghost bid to the TOC - and Dev is the youngest debater in North Broward history to receive a TOC bid.
Anna Farronay (Junior) and Abigail Goodman (Soph) were quarterfinalists in varsity policy. Anna was the 3rd place speaker.
Grant Cooper (Junior) and Benny Frost (Soph) were Octafinalists in varsity Public Forum. They received their first Silver bid to the TOC for this year.
